If youre looking for beatiful pictoresque description of Slovakia, or purely social document of how awful it looks here, youre looking for something else. This book is much more complex than that. It is the photographic view on how Slovakia, the youngest (post-socialist) country in central Europe evolved/transformed since the Velvet revolution in 1989, till 2001. Yet it cant be called objective. Why complex, when its not purely "documentary" you ask? Well, it is because its content has been carefully selected from 41 photographers by Colin Jacobson, who decited to include photographs ranging from professional reportage photos to subjective personal views of photographers simply documenting the changing world around them. Most of the photographs selected in this publication are accompanied by short comments of authors themselves (instead of for example "dry" newspapers articles).
