Adrian Campbell is on a mission. He's racing across the forests of northern Minnesota, racing against the clock. He has until midnight to save the world. Before the night is through he must face ice monsters, werewolves, vampires, and more in order to reach his goal. It's an inhuman task, but Adrian Campbell will face it with a wry inner commentary and the powers that make him more than human...

Agents Hale and Reynolds are on a mission. They're tracking down a man who's gone missing in the middle of a bloodbath in Akron, Ohio. A twisting trail of interviews, lost files, and mysterious clues keeps indicating that there is more going on than meets the eye. Hale and Reynolds are no stranger to the supernatural, and they're determined to find Adrian Campbell before he kills again...

The paths of both quests lead to the northern woods of Minnesota in the dead of winter. Supernatural forces are gathering there under the mysterious agenda of Quelle Biotech Incorporated. Three different goals will clash in the cold and the darkness. It is a battle waged with martial arts and firearms, magic spells and ancient faith.

Pushing Back is a supernatural action-adventure. It mixes Christian and Celtic themes with a breakneck pace and plenty of swashbuckling action.

A lifelong lover of adventure movies, comic books, science fiction, fantasy, and martial arts, Bruce was the sort of guy who almost always had a dog-eared paperback within arm's reach. At the age of twenty he discovered that most of the adventures he loved didn't include the morals or presence of the God he loved, too. He has tried to fill the gap ever since with fiction that blends science-fiction, fantasy, and fast-paced action. He has held down jobs from farm hand to fight choreographer, and is hard at work on a new book.

He has a BA in English from Bemidji State University, collected to further his goals to warp the minds of many for Christ.

Burns knows how to write epic battle scenes. His knowledge of multiple forms of martial arts informs his writing. The pacing was breakneck, especially during the last half of the book. Adrian Campbell is a hero on his own, until help comes from an unexpected source. Adrian’s redemption story was so heartwarming and sincere. I highly recommend this book.

This book was a race. I think I wrote the entire novel in three months' time, just as something to entertain me between the Song of Lagrandil rewrites. What I didn't know until later was that writing a book for nothing but my own entertainment resulted in the most popular novel I've ever written!

This is basically a chase story that incorporates some identity crisis issues.

I spent about half of the 2000's rewriting my old sword-and-sorcery YA series into something more serious. After book 2 of the current three I needed a break. I sat down to write something fun, snarky, and fast paced just for fun. This has turned out to be my most popular book by far, and I sometimes enjoy rereading it myself.

So... check it out. I think you'll like it.
