Weeding. Watering. Soil improvement. Frost and heat protection. Wouldn't it be wonderful if these gardening and landscaping chores could be simplified with one easy method? They can! This book is a reader's guide to the gardener's secret weapon for healthy, carefree and beautiful gardens and landscapes - mulch. Advice on every kind of mulch and on how to use mulches on everything from landscape plantings to vegetable gardens makes this the one book that gives readers everything they need to know to use mulch most effectively.
I appreciate this book because it's applicable to me as a complete beginner, and because the author also lives in a cool climate. feeling fairly confident about embarking on my first year of mulching because of this book.
I love Stu! His writing is entertaining to read and doesn’t feel like a chore. Mulching is probably not the most interesting topic among readers but this book read like a breeze. I enjoyed his little anecdotes.
A fairly comprehensive and very entertaining review of mulches for gardeners of all kinds, in all/most areas of the United States. I read the entire book, which is something I can't say for "The Pruning of Trees, Shrubs & Conifers" by George Brown (although that book is a handy reference). I give it four instead of five stars only because it didn't mention that cocoa mulch attracts squirrels.
