Details on how to use bark, stones, hay, compost, plastic sheeting, and other materials as a barrier to keep weeds out and beneficial elements in. Includes information that will allow readers to create their own mulches and select appropriate mulches for specific plants.
Just finished this little gem. It was interesting to look at mulching in a retrospective way. Living in Texas, it's hard to imagine *anyone* arguing about the virtues of mulching everything... veggies, flowers, trees, shrubs, your cat. But here, in this little book from the early 70s, there are the arguments. It's a great read, especially if you have rock soil and need some easy-out ideas. Now I have to go read Ruth Stout's work.
