I gave this one 4 stars because it was written by an Alpha Chi Omega (like me!) :) and it was a total easy read. Total chick-lit when I needed something less depressing than all the books I had read before.

Macy is married to a politician. Her husband is married to his career. After one too many disappointments from him she takes the children and goes to her childhood home to help her mother with her business. Her husband and is team try to put a spin on it because they don't want her leaving to hurt him politically. We follow her from her life as a trophy wife with 900-dollar shoes to a home restorer with a pink tool belt. This was a good story but could have used a little editing.

Can you take back your life, relive your dreams, and begin anew? Life doesn't have a "do over" button but you certainly are allowed a reset. If you can be be honest about who you are and what you really want out of life, if you can accept the pain of a unfulfilled dreams, and move on from a fractured past, you can embrace the joy of new beginnings. The message is strong, if not subtle, and the plot is plausible. The characters are at times stock, a little too plastic and one dimensional but they serve the theme of transformation well. There is the additional theme of "girl power' - which I find some what awkward, given that all the female characters keep seeking relationships with men. Do these male-female relationships fulfill a longing or complete the woman? The final confrontation towards the end of the book has some insightful dialogue and caps the storyline well. The book is not a page turner, nor a tear jerker. It is inspirational.

Macy is married to a politician. Her husband is more concerned about his career than his marriage. when he misses Macy's 35th birthday, she's had enough and takes off for home to help her mom with the family vineyard and hardware store. Her husband is mortified because what will happen to his career and is going to try and put a political spin and helping his wonderful wife blah blah blah.

Macy realizes that no matter how many times she tries to get her husband to lover her and not the job she can't. So she throws herself into the work of the family business and naturally she meets and old friend and starts to fall in love.

this book was really good and for me a quick read (1 day). give romance a try - you'll enjoy it.

I finished it bc I started it. Was VERY disjointed and zero character development. Seemed incredibly unrealistic as well. Could have been a great story about independence but was just fair. Good for beach, I'd say.

Pros and cons...

I loved the book, couldn't put it down. I think these characters will stick with me.
Cons...too many typos and mistakes, as an English teacher it was distracting.
