Brainlash: Maximize Your Recovery From Brain Injury

Rate this book
Mild traumatic brain injury can happen to anyone, anytime; in cars, sports, or workplace accidents, falls, or through physical assault, including domestic violence and shaken-baby syndrome. The National Center for Injury Prevention and Control estimates that 1.4 million Americans sustain a traumatic brain injury (TBI) each year, and that at least 5.3 million Americans currently have long-term or lifelong need for help to perform activities of daily living as a result of a TBI.

Brainlash provides the tools and facts to make the recovery process more intelligible-- and to support the wide range of people affected by MTBI. For patients, family members, physicians and other health care providers, attorneys, health insurance companies, employers and others, it covers options and services, health and vocational issues, medicolegal topics, psychological and emotional implications, and more!

This book is written in a clear, concise manner which makes it easy to digest. Reading this book after the fact I found myself nodding along. Not overly helpful after the fact, but I could see this being a really good resource for family members and caregivers that are trying to understand what it is like to have a TBI and how best to support.

Positive Resource for those digesting their own Brain Injury

I am now learning first-hand how long it factually takes to recover from a serious brain injury. Mine occurred in 2010 and I am still finding skills that I can do through intuition. The information is all still in my brain - it’s just not accessed at all in the traditional (active) sense

Dated, but there’s still some good info in there. One piece of advice I’m carrying forward is to delegate the tasks that make me cry.

Validating, but not the most practical of all I've read about brain injury.
