4.25 Stars!

This was an almost perfect book for me! There were maybe only one or two things I didn’t totally love, but that’s absolutely me being annoying.

Cara’s first line was “Hey, campers!” so obviously I already love her. She’s got the exact energy that I expected from a camping fairy, like, I worked with so many camp counsellors with her exact personality and they were some of my favourite people ever. I don’t even blame her for not noticing the magical items in her backpack were replaced with rocks, there have been other fairies that lost their items in stupider ways. She’s also just so unserious. Like, what do you mean you’re roasting marshmallows? You still have one last missing item to find and you’re roasting marshmallows? Cara be so for real. (Her wearing a butterfly disguise was also incredibly funny!) And finally, no notes on design! She looks like a camper, right down to all the friendship bracelets. She is easily a 10 (maybe even 5) fairy for me.

I also loved the magical items in this book! This is the first Special Edition book I’ve read that’s 3/3 for its magical items; reasoning, execution and overall theme are perfect, the only other book to do this was Emma the Easter Fairy (which makes sense because both books were written by the same ghostwriter).

Pros (aka a list of just about everything that I thought was interesting or funny)
-Camp arts and crafts are so fun! Messy as hell and I always did clean up when I was a counsellor so I was miserable, but the crafts themselves were great! (I do think that the paint spinner is a disaster waiting to happen, I would veto that immediately as a counsellor, I’m not even gonna bother blaming Jack Frost for that one.)
-Rachel and Kirsty drawing each other as fairies is objectively adorable.
-This is the first time I’ve seen the girls contact Fairyland in such a cool and creative way, so I’m just gonna go ahead and give this book five stars for that alone.
-The girls showing the goblins how to do the craft was such a sweet scene, I love little moments when the goblins aren’t just stupid pests and the girls are kind enough to recognize that.
-Them finding out why Jack Frost stole the items through goblin gossip is peak comedy. Like, you can’t just give me that one image of Rachel trying to climb out the window and expect me not to laugh.
-I choose to believe that the army of chipmunks did not attack the goblins with acorns for Cara, but because the goblins are simply that annoying.
-The water is low, none of the air conditioning works and there’s warm water coming out of the faucets? Jack Frost you are lucky I haven’t met you yet.
-Yes, put all that crafting talent to use and make a fake bracelet to trick the goblins! God, their plans are always so good.
-You know what, sometimes I just like it when nature (in this case, Hazel the beaver) works against the goblins and the girls don’t have to lift a finger, it’s what they deserve. And given everything that Jack Frost has done to nature, the goblins are definitely getting off easy.
-Not the goblins getting payback by throwing acorns at the girls and Cara! Lowkey, I love that for them.
-Kirsty really said the barter system works and at the right time too, cuz Rachel was about to throw hands. She was like, “we’ll give you a magic fire if you promise to behave until Rachel and I meet up again, because I can’t control what she does next” and this is why Kirsty comes up with most of their plans.
-This book is just further proof that children’s books can absolutely have well-thought-out plots. Jack Frost taking over the abandoned camp? Cara saying that he got extra goblin security now that he knows they’re onto him? The girls consistently getting lost because the compass is missing and is the last item they get back? All evidence of good storytelling.
-A list of my personal favourite lines/moments:
=>“It feels like Jack Frost to me.” - RACHEL! She really said everything is always his fault, it would be more surprising if he wasn’t responsible.
=>“When Jack Frost set up this camp I thought he had a brain freeze.” - OMG, speak your truth little goblin.
=>“Bollie said we should go to our cabins.” // “She suggested it.” Rachel pointed out. “That’s different.” - Rachel Walker, known menace to Jack Frost and his goblins (which I’m absolutely valid for saying, she tackled one of the goblins), is the rule breaker out of the two of them confirmed. Literally, fork found in the kitchen.
=>“Oh, no! It’s clean water!” a goblin yelled. - I laughed out loud and I will not be apologizing for it.

Cons (except these are just things that annoyed me, the book is literally perfect)
-Jack Frost is so annoying like, why you gotta drain the lake to ruin camp, you already took the items and people miserable, stop trying to ruin the planet while you’re at it.
-I swear fairy magic has turned the girls into goblins before, but if they want to make goblin costumes, good for them.
-You can not come into Special Edition Fairies #26 and say you’re nervous around goblins, stop this nonsense right now.
-I’m gonna backtrack on that crafting plan a little because why is Cara making the bracelet instead of the girls?
-I think it’s sweet that the King and Queen sent over a bracelet for Kelly too, but like, the girls have gotten much better presents in the past.

A 1st Grader Review
I liked this book because it was funny when the girls dressed up as goblins to go to Camp Frost. I also liked it because the goblins thought they were actual goblins but they were just dressed up like goblins.

Daisy Meadows and her fairies are my childhood. I collected so many in my youth, knowing all the fairies and their importance, and sticking with the two special girls who go to be a part of the magic.
Years ago I had to give my beautiful collection away, now still part of my childhood school where little girls are picking their favourite fairies and playing pretend. It's fun to hear stories from my old teachers telling me how over the years so many students have grabbed these books and fallen in love with the tales of two girls, Jack Frost and the fabulous glittering magic that is the fairies.
On Christmas last year, my sister surprised me with a boxset of these books, but cause you cannot collect these darlings as easily anymore. I was over the moon!
If anyone has a little one who needs a little magic in their life, wants to read and needs a big creation to be hooked on...it is Daisy Meadows!

A great intermediate book for youngsters in need of a bigger reading challenge, but not quite ready for full-on novels.

The goblins have stole Cara's magical objects that make camping fun. If the girls and Cara can't find the three objects soon everything will go wrong when they go camping.

This is how it all started....
when Rachel and Kristy were at camp everything seemed to go wrong first the paint spinner sent paint flying everywhere, all the water was warm instead of cool, and the water was lower than usuell.

That all happened before they met Cara the camp fairy. When they met her they started to try to find the three missing camping objects. A water bottle, friendship braclet, and a compass.
At free time they started to look for it.

They knew they weren't allowed to go in the woods by their selves. But they just snuck into the woods without anyone noteising. When they crept out on the other side. They saw goblin town and when they saw a really beautiful house they thought it was Jack Frost's house. The three friends flew into a house and they saw goblin workers and they were hiding one of Cara's magic objects.

Did Rachel, Kristy, and Cara find all of the three magic objects for camping? YES!!!

I love all rainbow magic books including this! Rainbow magic books are the best series in the whole wide world!

My favourite part was when Rachel, Kirsty, and Kelly got the same friendship bracelet that looked exactly like Cara's magic one. The worst part aws when Jack Frost stole all of the magic camp items. My favourite character was Cara because she made a deal with Jack Frost to give back the magic compass. The worst character was Jack Frost because he stole Cara's magic items. I learned that there is more than one kind of camp. Auryn 11 years old, 2015

It's nice and all, but you know that they are going to win, and no misfortune befalls them. And besides, weren't the goblins all boys? They should know if there are humans among them. Also, how can Cara be always there- if Rachel and Kirsty are in trouble, or need her? All in all, it was a great book, but lots of impossible things happened.

It has the same plot as the other books, and the girls take some actions that are against the rules and possibly a little risky, but overall it's a good book.

As far as the Fairy Special Editions go, this one wasn't bad. Five-year-old daughter loved it.
