Loose ends have a way of tripping you up…

Years ago, a law school graduation weekend in Vegas had been part of Lily MacPherson’s plan. Waking up next to a naked Adonis with a ring on her finger was not. After a quick annulment, she relegated Caleb Anderson to her late-night fantasies—and very short list of mistakes—until his voice on the other end of the phone asks a favor that could shake the foundations of her neat and tidy future.

Caleb is still haunted by Lily’s horrified expression that morning in Vegas. At least it had made it easy to set her free…except they aren’t. The papers were never filed. And when the nosy patroness who could launch his painting career insists on meeting his “wife”, does he confess, or call Lily? He calls Lily.

When she steps off the plane, Caleb’s determination to play tour guide disappears in the San Francisco fog. Lily thought she could keep up the pretense for one weekend, cut the last tie to her past, and move on. But their chemistry still pops and sizzles, finally exploding into passion at Caleb’s studio.

It’s everything they remember…but so is the yawning chasm of differences that, in the end, could once again drive them apart.

Contains balmy ocean breezes, coffee as seduction, the creative use of melted chocolate, and naughty shower lovin’ that gives new meanings to the term “shower head”.

Lynne Roberts wrote her first story out of frustration at the age of 11 because, darn it, Gone with the Wind just couldn’t end with Rhett and Scarlett not together.

She honestly believes in love, which makes her a hopeless romantic, and she’s definitely a sucker for happily ever after.

She’s been writing professionally since 2005 and is now published by The Wilder Rose Press.

An admitted coffee-addict, when she’s not writing, editing or reading—which isn’t often—you can find her in the garden or with one of her five children.

4.5 Stars Erotic Contemporary Romance

Caleb Anderson is an artist hoping to make it big, barely making ends meet as he lives in San Fransisco following his dreams. The son of a father who was a teacher and a mother who had owned a day care, Caleb is as middle class as they come. With dimples in his cheeks, a body that can rival that of a Greek God’s and wicked green eyes and long dark blond hair, Caleb is every girl’s romance hero personified coupled with his fierce tenderness towards the woman he got married to, one drunken night in Vegas, 3 years back.

Lily McPherson is the blue blood daughter of an investment banker and a socialite who has had her life mapped out in front of her since she had turned 16 years old. Lily has a ten year plan which features law school, internship, marriage, children and then a home office, all in that order. In a relationship with Stewart, the son of her boss with both their families expecting their engagement soon, Lily though she feels as there is something missing in her life doesn’t let melancholy feelings get the best of her as she hides the passionate woman she is behind a facade that fools everyone around her.

Lily’s one indiscretion in her otherwise perfect and spotless life had come in the form of a hasty Vegas marriage to the wickedly sinful Caleb. The 12 hours and 22 minutes that they had been married had been the most fun and carefree moments of her life, but panic reined its ugly head as she had woken up in bed with her brand new husband and a big fake diamond ring on her finger. 3 years later, Caleb calls out of the blue bearing news that turns her world upside down – their annulment had not gone through due to a careless clerk who had not filed the proper papers. And it is Caleb’s request that she travel to San Fransisco to help him out in a matter which requires her presence that finds Lily travelling on a 6 hour flight to her one & only glorious mistake.

With 4 days of togetherness looming in front of them, even from the first moment Lily eyes her husband looking as delicious as ever, sparks fly and desire denied for so long burst forth refusing to be brushed aside any longer. And along with their explosive passion, so does rise feelings that both have refused to acknowledge till now. But once their precious time together comes to an end, it is up to Lily to decide whether she would turn her back on a life full of happiness and laughter with the man who sets her senses afire and heart aflutter by her side or head back to the bleak colorless life that awaits her in Boston, the “perfect” arrangement for someone like her.

While this wasn't a long story, I think the characters were done very well for a short-ish story. The premise is that a blue-blood attorney-to-be runs into an Adonis-like artist in Vegas and they hit it off in a big way. Lily's life has been planned in her mind since she turned 16 and it never involved getting married after one night in Vegas. It involved whatever her parents/her society deemed appropriate... what was expected. So Lily and Caleb file the paperwork to get the marriage annulled, but for some reason, it doesn't get filed. Three years later, Caleb's benefactor discovers the marriage and wants to meet his "wife". So she agrees to go there for a weekend and pretend for his benefit.

The sparks, as in Vegas, were instantaneous on both sides. Once she gave into them, they had some scorching scenes. And some very tender ones. When she left to go back to her life, as was previously agreed to, she started questioning why her life was planned as it was. Would she ever be happy? Would she find love like she finally admitted she had with Caleb? She was attracted to a man who would likely be her husband, but they had never had what she shared with Caleb. And considering the world she lived in, she began to have a bleak outlook for her future.

My heart broke for both of them when she left. It broke for her after hearing she had dived into her work when she returned to her job just so she didn't have enough time to think about their time together. And what she knew she'd be missing. And I was crying tears of joy when she made the right choice.

So seeing as I cared enough to shed a couple of tears for the characters, I think this was a well-done, short-ish read. I would look for more from this author.

Lily MacPherson’s life is perfectly in order. She’s dating the perfect man her parents will be delighted for her to marry, she has the perfect job at his father’s law firm, and eventually she’ll have the perfect house and perfect 2.5 children. The only not-so-perfect thing Lily has ever done was have a wild weekend in Vegas that ended with a ring on her finger. Thankfully, no one ever found out that the blue-blooded Bostonian Lily married a penniless San Franciscan artist. The marriage was annulled almost as soon as it had taken place. There’s just one problem…

Caleb Anderson has never forgotten Lily, the woman he fell hard and fast for but who was horrified to find out she’d married him. Still, Caleb’s moved on with his life and his career is finally about to take off. Unfortunately, his nosey patroness has gone digging into his past and discovered something even Caleb didn’t know about himself: he’s still married to Lily. When his patroness declares she wants to meet his wife, Caleb calls Lily to break the news of their marriage and ask her for a favor. He wants her to come out and pretend to be his wife just for a few days. To his surprise, Lily agrees.

Lily and Caleb are only pretending to still be in love, but both discover that the bond between them still exists. Desire draws them to one another, but can it hold their differences at bay long enough for Lily and Caleb to see that they’re made for one another?

Opposites that aren’t so opposite attract in Creative License . Lynne Roberts scintillates in this red-hot reunion romance. It’s easy to get caught up in Lily and Caleb’s love story, for the two of them are incredibly likeable. They had a rather unconventional beginning to their relationship and the uniqueness of their present situation sets them off their balance, causing them to make mistakes with one another. Ms. Roberts had me rooting for them to find happiness together and this kept me eagerly reading Creative License .

It’d be a crime to write about Creative License without mentioning its sizzling love scenes. Watch out for artists with edible chocolate paint! All in all I greatly enjoyed Creative License and look forward to reading more of Ms. Roberts’s work.

What happened in Vegas…apparently failed to be annulled before they left Vegas.

Are you looking for an honestly sweet and sexy love story that comes with its own soundtrack? Look no further than Lynne Robert’s Creative License. If you have access to a music site where you can pick the song, que up Evanescence's “Bring Me to Life”. The song has an integral part in this story but it’s towards the end. Listen to it before you read this novella and again after you finish it and you’ll understand why it’s the perfect soundtrack for Caleb and Lily’s story.

Ms. Roberts has penned a really wonderful story of two people whose souls knew they are meant for each other when they first met. Too bad they let their brains become involved and ran from the amazing chemistry they both felt. When Caleb’s dream of having his art introduced to the San Francisco community and potentially the world hinges upon his patroness meeting his estranged wife he makes a call that changes his life as well as Lily’s.

Readers are going to fall in love with this couple thanks to Ms. Robert’s beautifully vivid writing. The characters are well developed and their situation completely realistic. Caleb is an artist that is very down to earth and well balanced and yet you get the feeling he’s missing something in his life. Lily has always been the “good girl” with the ten year plan. When she’s brought back into Caleb’s life she starts to question that plan and if the world she’s known is what she really wants.

The passion between Caleb and Lily is incredibly palpable and Ms. Robert’s made it so enjoyable to watch the progression from “we can be adults” to “we can’t keep our hands off each other”. Pick up a copy of Creative License. There is so much to love about this story. It’s one that had this reviewer searching for more stories by Ms. Roberts. If you love short stories that aren’t short on entertainment and emotion you won’t want to miss Creative License.

Possibly the only thing worse than waking up in a Vegas hotel with your new husband whom you met last night is answering your phone three years later and finding out you're still married to him. Lily MacPherson (possibly Anderson!) had just such a phone call. not only that, but Caleb is asking her to fly to San Francisco to help him get his sponsor to fund a showing of his art. She thinks he is married to a woman who works in Boston and flies in when she can. Hmmmmm....

For Caleb's part, he just wants to see Lily again. To touch her, to see her smile and the fact that his sponsor insists on knowing all about Caleb's life. Will she do it? of rcourse she does because something brought them together three years ago and what if it's still there? Lily has always been the responsible one. Dating an old family friend's son, working as an intern at a law firm, being predictable...you get the idea. Maybe just this once she should have a little fun?

And so we begin the married/wanting divorced tale of Lily and Caleb Anderson. He is and has always wanted to be an great artist. Check. She is a law intern who has always wanted to be a singer. Hasn't happened - not enough nerve. Do they still feel the same they did that night in Vegas? Ah, we shall see.....Lynne Roberts has a good short story here and you should give up a bit of time to curl up on 6h4 sofa and enjoy it. You won't be sorry.

This book has a great premise. A Vegas wedding that was supposed to have worn off when the White Russians did, but ended up being a lot more. I loved the little rich girl forgetting she'd found her prince and him reminding her. Over and over. In the shower. The story had great potential. It could have had a lot of sexual tension with a big payoff. Unfortunately it had a lot of sex with a cliché payoff.

There were a lot of problems that could have been solved with a good editor: Every other paragraph has either an eye open or an eye close; lots of cock swelling at both inappropriate and appropriate times, some of it painful; so much cream in her panties I began to wonder if she had a yeast infection; extra words in some places, missing words in others. At one point I checked to make sure it wasn't really a self-pub because Samhain usually does better for its authors.

I did like the fact that Caleb talked to his penis as if it were a favorite pet. And I liked that Lily shocks her family and follows her heart. It was okay. Maybe if there'd been more penis talking…

I don't know, maybe it was the length, but this book just wasn't all I was hoping for. While it should have been a quick, simple read for me, I honestly just felt like it was too dull in some respects for me to stay interested. I fell asleep reading it at one point. And the end just disappointed me...the best part if the story was going to be her family's reaction to the news that she was married, or at least her boyfriend's reaction to the information, but as soon as that scene came up it ended and we weren't even allowed to be a part of it... I never got fully attached to any of the characters, and the fact that they never discussed the run-in with his ex, or what that meant, that was another let down. There was so much potential for a great story, it just fell short for me in too many ways.

Uhm...I actually loved this book so much that I think I've found a new favorite author. She just brought out a new book under her real name Shawna Thomas, and I'm gonna read that ASAP.
She simply knows how to write...her characters are fascinating, likeable and multidimensional despite the shortness of the story. I even managed to understand the miscommunications between hero and heroine- I simply felt so strongly for both of them, and was so glad when they had their HEA. A wonderful tale, perfectly written, and I enjoyed every second. The sex scenes were steamy, emotional AND romantic- expertly done.
And, by the way: blond hero, dark-haired heroine- my favorite.

This felt like a Harlequin, the plot tried and tried in the romance genre, the resolution also predictable, but I liked the fresh way the author went about it and the romance was sweet.

I liked this short little read. Lily and Daniel were married in Vegas after a lot of drinking and sex were involved (only way right?!!?). Annulment was supposed to happen but it never went through and then it gets to the good stuff. They knew that once they were together it was going to go down. And oh boy did it. It has some really hot and steamy scenes in it. I liked the chocolate paint one the most!! Read it and you'll enjoy!!

Beautiful story! Caleb is a poor, but talented, artist with stunning green eyes and a buffed body to die for! Lilly is a beautiful rich girl, a legal intern from Boston. Yet after one crazy night in Vegas they wake up as man and wife. Three years later, Caleb calls Lily and informs her that due to a legal error, they are still married and he needs them to remain that way! Wait! What? Really cute story!

After I finally got this book, I read a few pages and got bored and knew it was mostly an erotica book. I felt like even for an erotica book though, it was kinda too much descriptions of sex and it also was unrealistic at how quickly the heroine got aroused. I dunno. I probably just wasn't in the mood. Overall, it was a sweet story, if a tad too unrealistic.

A quick, nice and hot read. A bit too quick though. I probably would have liked this to become a full length novel, as there simply are not enough painters (male or female) in the genre!

(Can I patent that phrase?)
