I couldn’t put this down.

There’s some pretty heavy stuff mentioned - rape, of course. Necrophilia. Rebecca’s husband was more or less castrated and is a pedophile. He’s also abusive.

This does get bonus points for the heavily implied homosexual relationship between two braves. I would have liked to have seen more of their relationship, honestly.

I thought Talon was a very sweet hero and Rebecca’s character development was satisfying.

Overall, 4.5 stars.

This Fierce Loving by Judith E. French

A touching story…

The description of the book I am listing below is from the back jacket of the book. I'm adding it because I believe the one on the Goodreads page does not depict this story.

The white man's cruelties have hardened the heart of Fire Talon. And now his honored father is in their hands, forcing the handsome Delaware war chief to take a captive of his own. She is called Rebecca, the beautiful, untouched bride of his most hated foe—as pure as the heaven's sweet rain, a priceless treasure from far across the great sea.

Though, at first, she hates and fears him, Talon can feel her need—and he, in turn, is wounded by his own. For a powerful passion unites them—a raging fire that sears their souls, urging a proud, tormented warrior to care once more…and awakening the slumbering sensuality of a brave, indomitable woman who must risk her immortal soul to experience what love can truly be.

A story of love and sadness. I loved the love story.

The lovers' actions, bravery, falling for each other and being together was fabulous, but the book was too depressing and made me sad. It took place in a setting where white men tortured and killed Indians. Rebecca's husband was evil to the Indians and was abusive to her. There was much sadness throughout the book. Even though it had a happy ending, I felt sad at the end. I guess I prefer romance novels that don't leave me with tears.
