Let Donna Fletcher sweep you back to sixteenth-century Scotland and a passionate tale of love under the most poignant circumstances...
Just when it seems she is finally free—free of a bleak future with her contemptuous husband, that is—Brianna Cameron is badly injured on a trip to a neighboring village. Left for dead, the young widow wakes to find herself in a one-room cottage—with a tall, dark, and badly scarred man tending to her wounds.
His name is Royce, and, unbeknownst to the beautiful woman in his charge, he is a legendary warrior who has charmed many a woman into bed. In need of solitude, he has come to this isolated cottage to heal from the unbearable memories of his last battle. But, to his surprise, it is caring for Brianna that has begun to lift his melancholy and make him believe in the redemptive power of love. And, even more startling, this feisty beauty has roused his desire as no woman before.
But, then, Brianna's supposedly dead husband suddenly reappears—very much alive and demanding the return of his bride. Royce will do anything to save her—except give her up. But can he convince the woman of his dreams to love him forever?
I really wanted to enjoy this book. It took me forever to get my hands on it. It started off wonderful but as it went on it seemed to be repeating itself. It became just so mushy that it actually irked me. I have no idea why because normally I enjoy all the sappy scenes. The heroine just totally turned me off. She gets mad and then 5 seconds later she is in bed with him. lol. I didn't finish the book. I read about 3/4 of the way and put it down to return to later. In hopes that maybe it just hit me wrong at that paticular time.

I thought I would try and read another of her books but I find I will finish this one and then no more. When I choose to read a book from a ccertain era in time I want to see and feel it in the book. She writes her characters as if they were from modern times there is no historical element at all and the stories were ok but the characters are very boring
A carriage accident leaves Brianna in need of help. An injured warrior comes across her carriage and takes her to a cottage to help her heal. In the process, Brianna helps to heal the warrior and his own injuries (both external and internal). Together they form a bond and wish to wed. The warrior has told her his name (Royce) but has not told her that he is a laird of his own clan and a legend in his own time. She feels hurt and betrayed when she discovers the truth. She needs to decide if she can trust him. Together they have many demons and enemies to face.
I really did not enjoy this book. I think out actually would have been ok if 1000 pages were removed! It was soooooooo repetitive! I can't say I'm not stoked to be done!
I usually am able to tolerate a certain level of silliness but this book pushed my limits. I liked the fact that both have a strong love for each other. I like the gentleness of the hero. He is alpha but able to show his softer side. The story seemed to develop at least some characters other than the hero and the heroine.
But the heroine's character was the one that made me give 2 stars to this story. Her character is a bit like a headless chicken. One second she is supposed to be all courageous and determined. The next second, she is so sure that being together is going to kill the hero that she wants to walk away. The third second, she is fearful that her life is in danger. The fourth second she wants to stay with the hero, the fifth second she acts helpless and talks about her ex-husband and her vows. It made me feel like the character was not well developed or that the author wasn't sure what defined the heroine and decided to throw in everything for some reason.
Good story and romance. I liked this story much more than some of Donna's more recent work. Much of the book is spent in the thoughts of the two main characters which becomes boring as they continue the same thoughts about each other over and over. However, the story moves on to include other characters and many more conversations resulting in relationships and character growth. I enjoyed it very much.
Yes this story has it all, a feisty woman, a legendary highland chieftain, a dastardly villain, and a very interesting and engaging tale. I believe that the blurb will give you details as the roles Royce Campbell, Brianna and Ian Campbell and Arran all played in this dramatic and intriguing story. I voluntarily submitted this review after reading an advanced copy of this book
The writing was well done, but the story repeats...and repeats...and repeats, as though the writer couldn't think of anything new. UGH! I really didn't like this book and kept falling asleep while reading it. Which is probably a good thing for me, I am a disabled USAF vet, and have lots of pain. I read to keep my mind off my body, have trouble sleeping and am awake most of the night usually. So this book helped in that way....I grabbed some much needed sleep. But a story should flow and keep you interested. I didn't like Brianna and wanted to smack her often. Can't imagine why Royce would love her. Since a story is a peak into the writers mind...I wonder what this writers mind is like. I will not look for more of her books, but if stuck and nothing else to read but one of hers I'd do it. Just such infantil writing.
I must say I was thoroughly disenchanted with this story after having read "Isle of Lies.". It took 12 chapters to get the story going. There was no balance between dialogue and action. There was nothibg left for the read to guess regarding their feelings since one moment she thinks about wanting kiss him and in the next she says, "Kiss me". I must say that the male characters are much more authentic and likeable, whereas Brianna's constant intermonologuing was exhausting. I was not taken on the journey was her recover. I was simply told about it. I am a sucker for happy ending, though, and in the end Brianna showed much more strength of charcter than initially expected. I agree with some of the other reviews that the book would have benefitted from some editing.
As I read the summary of this book, I was sure it was one I would like, and I definitely did. As a Phantom of the Opera lover, when a young girl is saved from a wrecked carriage by a man with a badly scarred face, the story becomes very interesting. As he helps her with her injuries, he finds that he does not feel as strongly about his own, and the two soon fall in love. But there is suspense and some mystery involved which makes this a really good read. I would have preferred for him to remain badly scarred, rather than healing quite well as it would make the love more interesting. My only objection to an otherwise good read.
This was the first book by Donna Fletcher that I stumbled upon. Scottish romances are some of my favorite historical to reads, but I was looking for something I hadn't seen before. This book doesn't disappoint! I've read it several times and I love it each time more than the last. As part of a series, I definitely recommend reading Isle of Lies first, where we first get to meet Brianna. The story begins with action right away, and the story's twists keep me rivited (even if its the fifth time I'm reading it!) from start to finish. Royce and Brianna's story is completelt unique and will leave you scrambling to buy more books by Donna Fletcher!
This one is a high 3 stars. I loved the concept, loved the characters and I am a sucker for Scottish/irish historical romance. In fact, I've read so many of them they blend into each other after a while. This book's take on healing helped it to stand out. However, the editor was asleep on the job. It got too "sweet" at times and it became repetitive in parts. I hope that a good editor gets ahold of it and republishes.
A badly scarred warrior rescues a woman from a coach accident and tends her serious wounds in a remote cabin. They both have mental and physical wounds that need to heal. Of course they help each other.
I thought that this was a complex story of relationships, secrets, identity, loyalty, and love. I have thoroughly enjoyed these related stories.
I enjoyed reading this book. This book is great, the writing was effortless and flowed easily. There is suspicious, betrayal, hurt,a little supernatural components and off the charts lovemaking. The characters were well developed and compelling supporting the story. You will love this book for the good will overcome evil. Select this book and escape to another place and time period. You will not be disappointed.
I really enjoyed this book. The only real negative thing I have to say about it is that there could have been more editing done. Such as one line should have undressed and it read undresses. Other than that another lovely book by Ms. Fletcher that made me smile and even laugh out loud a few times.
My 3rd Donna Fletcher book I have read this month, I loved them all! Great story (especially the connection/continuation between this one and Isle of Lies) and characters, definitely a re-read!
I loved the time they spent together at the cottage but after that the book got boring and the heroine started to irritate me I stopped caring DNF at chapter 27.
fun fact, this is the first romance novel i EVER read and i found it again in a thrift shop so I had to give it a go again lol
for the early 2000s this book is surprisingly good with consent and Brianna is definitely a demisexual Queen, though a big flaw are the discussions are fertility (oh yes, big strong man with strong seed will definitely get you pregnant when you think you're infertile - fucking gag). I loved the emotional and then physical attraction that slowly grew between the two. but goddammit Royce could definitely have communicated better. Ugh, men.
there's also a very weird style of switching POVs between paragraphs that I definitely dont see around anymore, i wonder if it was a style of the time. It was tough to get into at first but a cool little time capsule if it is.
I also thought this book was WAY more descriptive than it was, but then again, this was my first romance book so i was clearly awestruck 15+ years ago😂 there are a lot of sexy scenes, but they are barely descriptive and don't last long at all. sweet summer child, you were going to find so much more (trust, i read the claiming of sleeping beauty WAYYY too early lol)
this book is not perfect, but it will always have a special place in my heart, and i'm glad it's mostly held up 20 years after it's original release.
Royce Campbell, the legendary laird of clan Campbell was badly injured and heavily scarred in battle and went to a secluded cabin to recover physically and mentally. He came upon a carriage accident and rescued a beautiful young woman and brought her to the cabin to heal. Brianna is the sister of the laird of clan Cameron and she is a widow. She was married to an abusive and controlling man but is now enjoying her freedom. Once Brianna awakens from her injuries and sees Royce’s face she screams and passes out. He treats her with only kindness and tenderness and she is completely at his mercy because she can do nothing on her own due to her injuries. Only their first names are shared. They develop a beautiful comfort between them that soon grows to love. However, when the weather clears and she is able to return to her home with Royce by her side, she soon discovers who Royce really is and she must decide if she can trust him now. There is a lot of excitement in this well written story and great characters. Royce is the kind of man any woman would want, strong, protective, handsome, tender, kind, patient, and passionate. But someone from Brianna’s past is lurking in the background waiting to strike at any moment.
An amazing story of true love and a cruel and evil man. Brianna Cameron was married to Arran and he was selfish and mean. He tormented her and made her fear him. Her brother came and told her that Arran was dead. On her way to teach a villiage how to preserve food for winter and make new dyes, she has an accident and her carriage goes over a ridge. She cannot move and faints with pain. Royce Campbell is injured and spending his time in solitude and trying to heal, he stumbles across her, picks her up and takes her to his cottage. It was wonderful to watch Brianna and Royce fall in love. They fell really hard. The characters were so fun but also Royce protected her while she recovered. They were vivid and heartwarming. Her brother and Moira supported her in all her endeavors. This is a twisted and convuluted tale. So much happens, there are battles, injuries and so much more. it is a mesmerizing book. I received this ARC and voluntarily reviewed it.
This book was gifted to me. “Love Me Forever” is book two in the Scottish Duo Series by Donna Fletcher. Brianna of Clan Cameron is a young widow and on a journey to the local village when her carriage overturns. Alone and gravely injured, a stranger finds her and rescues her. Over the weeks alone with him, she is slowly nursed back to health by his gentle touch. Royce, her rescuer, was hideously scarred in battle. Can he and Brianna find true love? Royce has secrets. What will happen when Brianna discovers the truth about him? I thought this was a very well written story. It has twists and turns that come unexpectedly. I haven’t read any of the other books yet. And though this was written in a series, it truly can be read as a stand alone work.
1. There goes the repetitions again and it's more irksome this time.
2. Brianna and Royce's love declarations to each other are mushier than Moira and Ian's and it's more annoying as well.
3. The story keeps on reiterating how stubborn Brianna was and I was like, "Yeah, I already know that. Anything new?"
4. For a legendary seasoned warrior, Royce was deym stupid. He didn't have a plan B, C or D when it came to protecting Brianna. Either he was idiotically overconfident or he underestimated Arran.
5. Does the author have any issues with Brianna? In the prequel, the writer gave her a horrible husband. Then in this novel, the novelist let her gave birth alone.
6. There was also inconsistency. In the first book, Anne has curly dark hair, but in this installment, she has a beautiful blond hair. In fairness, both heights were correct.
7. It was apparent that both author and editor do not know to calculate. Both stories happened in the same year, 1513.
If in the Isle of Lies, it started in January of 1513, adding Moira's pregnancy (9 months), plus 6 months after the ending, then the beginning of this literary piece should be in March 1514.
However, it was mentioned in the first book that Moira will give birth in June of next year (which is 1514) and it didn't recount that she gave birth prematurely. Thus, 6 months after giving birth and the finale, the earliest starting point of this story should be in January of 1515.
not bad too many "I love you's" for me.I'd rather see it shone than said over and over....it is just not cute. but having said that I love how these two found each other and slowly came to love each other...it was each of their mental and physical conditions that sprouted the romance....the heroine kinda gave up on him too fast when she found out who he really was....how tempramental can u be? but maybe having been abused as she was by her ex...I enjoyed it...good story, too much mush.....good read.
I found this book refreshing and unique. The author captured the feral and untamed nature of the male protagonist and the wounded emotionally scarred female protagonist. Together they were allowed to heal each other and love deeply. It is a moving story with an excellent plot and amazing turns. Nothing in the story will disappoint a reader. I recommend this book for anyone who enjoys adventure and finding love where you would least expect it.
Another enjoyable story about a member of the Cameron clan. This time it’s Briana and Royce’s story. It is a story of enduring strength of character. Briana learns to overcome all difficulties with her new found knowledge. It is an enjoyable tale about the power of love. Royce and Briana learn to trust one another when they are both healing. There is an interesting twist that prolongs their agony of wanting to be together forever!
