While being investigated for unbecoming behavior on the job, Shannon descends into chaos as her sister prepares to marry a rich plastic surgeon, prompting her mother's latest matchmaking scheme, which forces her to take a stand and get her life back on track. Original.

A life-long reader, she began crafting stories at age ten, but didn't realize it was her dream until she was an adult.
Once the light dawned, she immediately left behind "work" as the world defines it and went to "work" as she defines it, which means getting up every morning with a smile in her heart so she can spend the day doing that which makes her spirit sing.
Stephanie believes in learning to listen to your heart in order to figure out what your dreams are, and then opening yourself to the inspiration that will direct you there. She believes we all deserve the right to enjoy life, and for the ride to be as easy as we want it to be, and that we all should accept nothing less than making our dreams come true.
Stephanie lives in New England, and spends every day doing her best to fill it with people, observations and activities that uplift her soul, which include writing, tennis, dancing, friends, and her amazing family.
I liked that Shannon had her own strong stand on her career in this book - given the privileged family situation. I found it refreshing to have a character stick so firmly to what she thought was her truth ...and I also liked how she came upon a revelation. Sometimes I find fiction written way too predictable and perfect. although this was still predictable - this was just more interesting and admirable seeing as so many people currently give into family, societal and financial pressure .
I really enjoyed this book, probably because I found Shannon so relatable. To me she seemed like a real person who I could be friends with. So she was self-absorbed sometimes and all woe is me, aren't a lot people, especially when they're 24/25? Although I did think Emma was wrong to want Blaine to be with them if they went out for a girls' night, which to her turned into a double date thing (this was said in passing btw). I know I wouldn't want my boyfriend with me if I wanted to hang out with my best friend. I thought Stephanie Rowe did a perfect job at balancing every element in the book and was very entertained throughout. (4.5 stars)
This was an easy entertaining read, but Shannon's constant whining about lawyers and the law profession turned me off a bit from the character. I couldn't connect with most of the characters; the one I liked the most was Van.
I found the editing of this book to be very questionable. The author repeated phrases to the point where I found it irritating. For example, "He lifted a brow" was used three times in as many pages in one chapter, and I lost count of the number of times brows were lifted throughout the book. I was surprised at how unimaginative some of the writing was.
This is one of those train wrecks you just can't turn away from. I want to strangle the main character. And about 99% of the supporting cast. The woman is just "me me me me me," "whine whine whine whine whine," "I cant decide my true love, woe is me...." Good grief. It's one of those that you don't know how to place it - want to scratch the character's eyes out yet can't put it down.
This was an easy, quick read. The characters were overall likeable and it was... easy. It's nice to read easy chick-lit that doesn't enrage you in the end because it ever tried to be anything else.
You go into a book like this, and you get exactly what you expect. I appreciate that.
After the same point being made about 50 times in the first 10 pages, I started skimming. After 25 pages of skimming, I read the last chapter and everything ended exactly like I expected. Saved myself an hour.
