I picked this up before I looked into speed reading and found out that a lot of its principles might be bs. Considering that, I don't think this book tries to convince you of impractical speed reading techniques in all the same ways other similar courses might. It recommends only reading as fast as the difficulty of the material allows, for example, whereas a critique I've heard of popular speed reading is that it basically encourages you to skim read everything to the point that key words are missed accidentally, even in important texts. I would be mindful of the tests this book gives because some of the comprehension tests can be answered without even reading the material prior. The author has good reason to skew the tests in your favour to make you think the book is doing its job.
