A frustrated secretary tries to fend off boredom at her job by writing a novel about her tempestuous love life, but she is blocked at every turn, by phone calls, arriving packages, and a new lover who insists on keeping their affair secret
This story began as something funny, giving a different view (a girl writting a book while she work in a reception office), then became a mysterious love story, after a creepy philosopher and at the end I really couldn't understand what I was reading... great idea but at last not so great story.
I absolutely loved this when I read it, which was maybe ten years ago. It's quirky and hilarious and because the protagonist is a receptionist, she has all sorts of people to characterize in her thoughts--and we of course are privy to her thoughts. More people ought to read this.
