Everybody is drunk in this book with one exception. The narrative reflects the inebriation. There is a plot of sorts but it rises out of the drunken stupor only to return to it. It is no wonder, then, that the characters merge into each other. Even the narrator is in one chapter one character and another character in another until it does not matter any more. This is clearly a description of the underbelly of Finnish culture and, as such, maybe a valuable contribution to the literary landscape. Although I can't think of any other reason to read this book, the nonstop verbal torrent, which is a minus, is so vivid that it turns into a plus and it does not take too much effort to read the book to the end.
