This book is a brief history (very brief) of the Hudson's Bay Company. I am not sure if what this book was originally intended to be. I got this copy to mark my 20th anniversary with the Zellers part of the company. However it reads like it may have been done for schools. At tis point I daresay we may never know.
Be that as it may this is not a bad volume. As I said it is a brief history, which is fine as the company is older than Canada, by a couple of centuries I believe. The history is covered in broad strokes, rather than in fine detail. As such it really serves as an introduction, which is why I suspect it may have been intended for the later grades of elementary school. This book is also heavily illustrated, most of which are in colour.
All in all this is a decent book. I would particularly recommend it for anyone who has school age children who are comfortable reading on their own, though adults will likely learn from it as well, especially if you aren't Canadian. Happy reading
