Pursued by the inhuman warriors of the Cylon Empire, a ragtag fleet spaceships -- containing the last remnants of humanity -- are led across the cosmos by Commander Apollo and the crew of the battlestar Galactica in search of an earlier home of humanity, a place of legend. A place called Earth.
Richard Lawrence Hatch was an American actor, writer, and producer best known for his role as Captain Apollo in the original Battlestar Galactica (1978-1979) television series, and also as Tom Zarek in the 2003 re-imagining of Battlestar Galactica. He passed away from Pancreatic Cancer on February 7, 2017.
I struggled with this. I read this as a standalone and quickly discovered it is part of a serialised set of books. As a result, there are plenty of plotlines lingering from the previous books and more are left for future books. The 'Resurrection' of the title relates to one of the main characters and for me it just didn't work at all. I also didn't enjoy the 'soap style' elements that took up much of the first half of the book. There was also plenty of spelling errors and issues with the wrong character being quoted (something that should have been picked up prior to printing).
Most of the main characters walk through their individual stories with no connection. The heart that made me love the series is missing from these books.
While it was definitely the weakest of the three Hatch books I've read....I liked it. The villain sucks but the crew of the Galactica are a lot of fun. A light popcorn book and a guilty pleasure.
