As a former addict, who is in over a year in recovery, this book is very toxic. I have done a lot of my own healing and coming eye to eye with my personal traumas. I feel a lot of those saying this book is good, have not been addicts to see the toxicity to come from the wording of it. There is so much more to addiction, and trauma is the gateway. The last thing someone, especially an addict, needs is to hear the words this book chooses to speak. There needs to be a better book for this.
I read this while training to facilitate the class. I work in reentry and this program has been proven in multiple studies to reduce recidivism. It’s not an easy program, and requires you to actually work the program for there to be any benefit. I think it definitely made an impact on me and I’m not the one taking the class!
This book is a complete life saver! One in a million! If you struggle with addiction and you’re ready to get your life together for yourself then definitely get this workbook and really do it! I loved it. Trying to get another book so my girlfriend can do it but wanted to give this a review first! My favorite!
Excellent book for anyone to help make positive and realistic perspectives on life decisions. The book has numerous exercisers to do in group settings or as an individual. Originally designed to help inmates in the jail or prison system to make better choices.
