A brand-new year's worth o f inspiring stories from the front lines of faith -- 366 new devotions from missionaries around the globe. In these pages, you'll hike mountain paths, jolt down rutted desert roads, and pick your way through teeming markets and crowded urban slums. You'll meet boisterous children, worried parents, anxious teens, and curious seniors--all hungry, whether they know it or not, for the Good News. You'll witness moments of looming danger and crushing heartache, moments of shining hope and pure miracle. You'll be inspired anew by those who dare to obey God's call to take His story to the ends of the earth. And you'll be encouraged to pray for those who dare to open their hearts not only to the message but also to the One who calls and sustains them. "The art of any story is the truth that it paints. I pray you'll find this book chock-full of truth. I pray that every single entry causes words of Scripture to jump off the page and onto the pavement of authentic human experiences, ""causing you not only to see their lives differently but also to change the way you see your own." -- from the ""Introduction"" by Beth Moore All royalties for the """Voices of the Faithful""" series support the work of the International Mission Board.
Stories are riveting and inspirational. I read it all in tandem with prayers for the unreached. Much missionary work to be done. Not an easy life yet through perseverance and manna, the tales perpetuate what it means to live in Faith!
“Voices of the Faithful Book 2: Inspiring Stories of Courage from Christians Serving Around the World” is a magnificent devotion book to read for the entire year. The International Mission Board composed together a compilation of inspirational stories from missionaries around the world. Beth Moore created the “Voice of the Faithful” series. She also wrote the introduction to the book. Kim P. Davis was the complier of the book and she also wrote the monthly introductions for the devotion book. In this devotion book, you will read stories that will cause you to want to pray and help one another in your everyday life. Some of the monthly topics include prayer the priority, lost and found, the power of the story, lessons from the young, from adversity to triumph, hope for the world. The devotion for each day has a bible verse and a missionary story to go along with it. The devotion book also contains a different prayer to pray for the missionary field each day. The devotion book encloses a list of scriptural references and devotion titles by the month in the back of the book to assist you with your bible study.
I would recommend this book to everyone. Teenagers and adults will be able to learn about the many different missionary fields and what makes their faith stand strong for Christ. It will inspire readers to reach and grow in their personal faith. I think the devotion book is a wonderful tool to use for your alone time with God and you can even pray the prayer for missionaries each day. Note: I only read the devotion book for the month of January. But I plan to continue reading the devotion book for the remainder of the year.
"I received this book free from the publisher through the Book Sneeze book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own."
Voices of the Faithful - Book 2, Inspiring stories of courage from Christians serving around the world published by Thomas Nelson and compiled by Kim P Davis.
This is not your ordinary book of daily devotions. Yes, each day begins with Scripture and ends with a prayer, but then the similarities end. Voices of the Faithful takes you into the lives of missionaries serving around the world. Each one gives a glimpse into the world where they minister. “You’ll witness moments of looming danger and crushing heartaches, moments of shining hope and pure miracle.”
One missionary’s wife serving in an African village tells of her day of constant interruptions including loss of electricity and a torrential downpour while trying to homeschool her children. She reminds us that our “idea of ministry may not match God’s definition. His goal for me is to bring Him glory in the little things and not just in the big things. Being reminded of this goal has changed my outlook on the interruptions of each day. Each interruption is an opportunity to serve the Lord by loving the people God brings my way.” Her outlook and insight on God’s plan helps me to see “interruptions” as a chance to serve and love others.
Each month focuses on a different aspect of the Christian walk: Prayer, the Priority; Divine Appointments; and Making Him Known.
I would recommend this book for anyone who wishes to grow in their faith and pray for different people groups around the world.

Every morning I was drawn to this book as part of my quiet time. A few days were a bit light, others quickly drew me to my computer so I could share on my blog and/or my facebook account. When I read something that inspires me, I just have to share. My year is up and I'm looking for another wonderful devotional to teach me as much.
I love this devotional and read it nightly! It is so inspiring to hear stories directly from the mission field of missionaries who are posted in their countries right now! It shows me how to pray for them and their countries! I love it!
