Reading all about the decades of Missionary Aviation Fellowship nearly left me exhausted! The pilots and other workers for this amazing organization have done SO MUCH WORK to help people all over the globe. If you're interested in aviation and/or global missions, this is a great read! I have even more respect for MAF after reading this book. What an amazing team!

I did enjoy listening to this e-book and it wasn't difficult coming back to it even after so much time passed in between. Having heard so much about this Aviation Mission work over the years, it was great to hear of the most recent work they are doing in places not easily reached except by a small aircraft. Their dedication and perseverance throughout the years and facing much difficulty in war-torn areas and troubled lands was also encouraging.

There were some inspiring accounts of God’s goodness: particularly His provision. At the beginning of the book he writes ‘I trust you will trace in it the things God has done and give Him the glory’. And his trust was vindicated!

King clearly has the meticulous mind of an engineer. He can remember names and tribes and places and numbers. This makes for a good account that can be tested; a reliable record of God’s dealings. In fact it makes it quite good history! However it does make it harder work than your average biography. I suppose it is a part-history, part-biography book - the greater part of it is a history of MAF, the lesser part a personal biography. Actually it really is an insider’s biography of MAF. Or perhaps another way to look at it is that it falls into the category of testimony. It is a testimonial to God’s work in and with and through a particular organisation through the eyes of one of its founder members. So it is not history in the objective sense, but in a much more exciting, lived sense.

So I would recommend the book if you are looking to stir up your faith in a personal God who acts in history. And to learn some lessons along the way about how to walk with him.

An inspiring, faith-boosting read of pioneer missionary aviators. The aviation detail is not too much. God's faithfulness is evident throughout.
