Unique time period for a MMF romance

Joaquin is a bandit, Cormack is a frontiersman, and Zelnora is a divorced woman with an eye for geology. Together they make the unlikeliest of couples (and then a trio), but somehow, it seems to work. It doesn’t seem equal - the connection between Joaquin and Zelnora is the least developed - but it is three-ways. I found the language in this story quite flowery, occasionally over descriptive and filled with odd turns of phrase. Maybe this is reflective of the time period, but I found it off-putting (I almost put the book down). Once I got into the story, I got used to it, and enjoyed this story set in the Old West.

This is a strange yet intriguing story. Cormack meets Zelnora and they run off to look for gold. That's where they meet Joaquin, a bandit who seeks revenge on Californians for his wife's murder. Joaquin is attracted to men but can't let his men know, so when he finds Cormack naked, he pretends to torture Cormack, while loving every minute of it. Later, when Cormack and Zelnora meet up with Joaquin again, they get into each other. Then they form a pact of sorts in order to get gold, then move to San Francisco together. There are enemies everywhere, but they take them on one by one. Cormack's past is sketchy, but Zelnora trusts him, and both of them trust Joaquin.

Working the Lode, book one in the Going for the Gold series follows divorcee Zelnora Sparks, frontiersman Cormack Bowmaker and bandit Joaquin Valenzuela and set during the California goldrush.
As the three eventually get together to look for their piece of the goldrush, things between the three of them eventually heat up, and in a time when a relationship with two men and one woman would most likely be frowned upon, they still manage to heat things up and let their new feelings take over. It was a little hard to follow at times since it’s written in the old dialogue of the Wild West of the 1800s, but it is still a great story to read.

I really enjoyed this book. Definitely different but in a good way. Would definitely love to see more books of this type. I loved how Cormack and Zelnora clicked with each other right away and the sexual tension between them and Joaquin.

I enjoyed the book very much. I am used to the MCs written by Layla Wolfe, but this was a great change! Zelnora gives the book lots of spunk, Cormack gives the book something to drool about, and Valenzuela brings his Spanish hotness some badness to the book. It is definitely something I would recommend!

This historical menage set in California's gold rush country was fun. The quirky characters were likeable and I enjoyed reading about Zelnora, Cormack and Joaquin. Their interactions with each other were oh so steamy. Overall an enjoyable read.

Skin the colour of borax? Eyes the colour of sarsaparilla beer? And what's all this about beavers and pumpkins? The language the author uses is just stupid and makes no sense!
And how is it hot that in the first few pages the heroine is VERY happy to get it on with some dirty guy who doesn't wash his privates and she describes him as being an odorous beast, his privates as ugly and uses the words slimey to describe her "soaked drawers"!
I am so p'd off I was hoping for a reasonably well written hot menage book and I can't even finish this one!!! Where are the good authors hiding???

Not a bad story, but pretty good sex scenes between the three main characters.
