Sixteen original tales of terror from Lucy Taylor, Brian Hodge, d.g.k. Goldberg, Michael Kelly, Gerard Houarner, Mark Samuels, and ten other talented storytellers in the latest collection of the continuing horror series.
This book really rates 4 1/2 stars because of the quality of the writing.I tend to not like modern horror too much because I find all the grue and sexual violence distasteful but this book does not have too much of either. It also has some real gems like the creepy Belinda's Coming Home and Skins. Other noteworthy stories are Sentinels and Desert Places. Over all the book is very good and I have ordered two other books in the series, which I understand from the reviews, are equally impressive.
"The Cheerleaders, The Geek, and the Lonesome Piney Woods" by d. g. k. goldberg - The narrator is pranked by four teenagers in high school and his hatred is so strong that he hears their laughter down through the years until they die off one by one.
"Inside the Labyrinth" by David Riley - This story reinterprets the Minotaur's labyrinth as a location where bestial violence and lust compels its discoverers to supply it with sacrifice.
