Rate this book
This story portrays the lives of two Shan girls, Ku Mei and Mya, who were separated when one daughter was abducted and the family was forced from their small village in Shan State, Myanmar (Burma). With their youngest daughter, they chose to move to Thailand as migrant workers in search of a safer and hopefully a better life. The girl's stories are an attempt to tell what can be achieved when escaping from the depths of poverty and an oppressive government.
