Pretty Lies

Rate this book
I’ve given up on a lot of things in my life. Hope, relationships, and myself.

But worst of all, I gave up on my little girl.

Too fucked to deal with the responsibility of raising a child, I ran out on her when she was just a baby, leaving her and her mother to fend for themselves.

Over the years, I’ve made peace with that decision and learned to live with the devil that dances on my shoulder.

But then I get a text. From her. From my Audrey.

I should ignore it, but I don’t. I respond. Then texting leads to more, and soon enough, I’m opening doors that should’ve remained closed. I’ve got my eye on her now for all the wrong reasons and everything is once again fucked.

Because the way I want Audrey is sick. Dirty. Sinful.

Yet, when she begs me to let her tag along on a road trip to California, I can’t say no. Not while my mind says one thing and my body demands another.

The one woman I can never have.

My daughter.

Why do I pick up any random book with the promise of deep taboo? Don’t tell me, I know I have issues. Anyway that’s why I picked this one up, with not a lot of expectations mind you. But I was disappointed anyway. First of all, tell me which father-daughter pair starts off their very first conversation in 13 years after he left her when she was 4, in an obviously flirty manner? These two apparently. Now you’ll tell me, Nik, the author had to set up the taboo aspect asap to make it work in a novella length book. To which I’m gonna have to say bullshit, because there’s a lot of pointless meandering and unnecessary info dropped throughout the book. Heck it’s even a slower burn than you’d expect. And the girl isn’t even some shameless hussy, she has social anxiety for heaven’s sake. To be clear there’s absolutely nothing wrong with being a shameless hussy.

Secondly, if you’re gonna try to convince me that the girl in question is so hot for her father that she will say fuck it to all of society’s rules to be with him and it will work in the long term, at least don’t give me a selfish, piece of shit, dirty (not in a good way), drug dealing, deadbeat dad? So what if he has tattoos? He actually takes her along on a fucking drug deal on their second meeting. What a gem. Give me a fucking irresistible god of a man who’s worthy of that teenager wasting her life, please and thanks. I mean, girl can’t even travel with the common public without her step daddy’s jet, what’s she gonna do? I know it’s fictional but make me believe it yo.

Tbh the author missed the perfect opportunity to make it a step dad romance. The step dad sounded interesting at least but she made him a jerk. Anyway, Audrey is a plus size queen, and instead of that feeling empowering, Beau constantly referring to her body parts as chubby and chunky and doughy just made my chubby ass uncomfortable. So not what she was going for I hope. And I didn’t feel like Beau redeemed himself in any real way at all? We get some half assed explanation of him leaving at the end which convinced no one.

Let’s be honest, before anyone else says it, I’ll admit I was in it for the smut and not for fine literature. But even that didn’t truly deliver. There were moments yes, but it was not worth the rest. Don’t even get me started on the 🩸 ~eating~ activities. In fact, it felt like they were made father and daughter only for the taboo label, bcoz for most of the book they behave like any other age gap couple but that’s not sensational enough I guess. Also the editing and proofing was absolutely terrible. Which honestly feels like the harshest thing I’ve said, and I know there could be reasons for this and I overlook this sometimes, but combined with everything else, it just annoyed me more. Did I still continue and read the whole thing? Of course I did. That’s on me. The things I do for the promise of a “good girl” and “use your words” and “daddy’s gonna eat your pussy” I tell you. But alas it’s not enough. And no none of my criticism is about the incest, that was actually why I picked up the book 😂

First off let me say your judgment isn't needed. Second scroll by if you can't handle an extremely taboo book. This book crosses lines and of course, that intrigued me so I had to read it. Audrey and Beau are blood-related, father ad daughter. Taboo much? I was invested from the very first page till the last. Most people think taboo is all smut but know this is not. This is a story of missed times. This story is about reconnection. Is there smut? Yes. The build-up was slow and the angst was good. These two connect obviously on a different level and frankly, I loved it. If you can handle this type of taboo then I suggest this book. Keep in mind you can only get it on Natalie's website.

The story was good and entertaining.

My issues were with the tons of grammar mistakes. I expect mistakes like those to be in an ARC, not a finished book I paid for. Also, the overuse of the pet name “kitten” had me rolling my eyes and gritting my teeth; it got annoying real quick.

For this taboo tale we have a father and daughter who become more.

So I’ll say this before my review this is a work of fiction. I do not condone this in reality. Taboo is growing in popularity and I say bring it on in fiction.

This was a slow burn between Audrey and Beau. Audrey has found her father after 14 years of him not being in her life. Her mother has passed and her stepfather is a cold and distant man. She’s feeling a little lost. (There’s mention of anxiety and other mental health issues.)

When she meets Beau for the first time, they both have inappropriate thoughts. Now Beau is definitely not going to win any father of the year awards in this book. He’s not a good guy. She’s sweet, naive and innocent, a perfect opportunity for anyone to take advantage of.

Beau has to go on a run to California and Audrey begs him to take her with him. He’s hesitant because it will be on his bike and the forced proximity might fan the flames he’s feeling towards his daughter.

From here it’s a slow burn building up the back and forth they both do. Knowing it’s wrong but to them it feels right and once they cross that line there’s no going back. Beau warred within himself but he listened to the little devil on his shoulder.

By the end Beau was a better man because of Audrey and she wasn’t alone anymore.

The low rating has nothing to do with the taboo nature of the book — I’ve read plenty taboo books so that wasn’t my issue. It was the writing, the millions of unanswered questions and also the serious lack of chemistry between the two. I thought they were really going to hit the ground running with those flirting texts early on but theres zero chemistry past that.

The topic didn’t bother me, it was the lack of development. Both characters annoyed me. Also completely unrealistic.

If you know me personally, you may look away 👀

This obviously is a taboo book between a daughter and father (blood related), so if that makes you uncomfortable, don’t read.

They have been separated for 14 years, and when Audrey reaches out to her dad, Beau, to reunite and create a relationship, clearly the sparks be flying 🔥

Also clearly, the author never went to an In-N-Out. Just had to put that out there.

I completely feel in love with Audrey and Beau's story. I couldn't help but catch feels for them both right from the start, though I can admit that I got a tiny bit of rage and yelled at Beau when he would do the things that he did with Audrey but then turn his back on her come the morning. But I got what I wanted in the end they ended up together in the end regardless of what the people around them thought about them being together.

This book was freaking incredible. I love books that are taboo so this fit everything I love.

The characters in this book were amazing. I do wish Finn who is the main man character’s brother wouldn’t have did Beau like that but I understand the reaction.

Audrey was so freaking adorable and likable. Growing up without a father and a mother who died when you were extremely young. Going to a Catholic high school where you literally had no connections to the real world. Finally finding your father and everything in this book was just so heartfelt/

Natalie writes extremely good books that are full of spice but also tons of plot.

This is a very taboo book, between father and daughter.

I enjoyed this so much, there's alot of sarcasm between the too. They just fit well. The conversations they have from the beginning just flowed and made me laugh. This is a pure romantic story even if it is forbidden and frowned upon.

I will definitely keep reading books from this author in the future. 😊

Could have been a great story had there not have been a ridiculous amount of grammatical errors. In some places sentences weren’t even finished. Spelling mistakes through out. Looks written in a rush.

this book was SO boring. i can't believe i actually finished it. halfway through, i wanted to DNF, but i pushed through.

i like the concept, but there could've been more. more into the plot and more into smut. but it was like bare minimum.

I didn’t expect to like this book that much but here we are !

Tbh, this is the first taboo book that’ve found worth reading. Generally, the whole story is rushed and there is little to no character development. But in this case, we can clearly see where each mc is coming from and feel the lust and live develop between them.

Audrey and Beau both knew from the beginning that their feelings for each others were wrong and they tried to fight it -especially Beau- which is something that I really liked since we can see the struggle of morality.

I’m really happy that I’ve got to discover such a great work. And for people that want to read this book, if you’re not ready to discover a full taboo/incest story it will be best for you not to read the story, it’s indeed a good book but it’s not for meant for everybody

Pretty Lies is a great story, I couldn't put the book down. Natalie Knight did a great job on the story, the plot was strong, it was written well.
From the moment Audrey and Beau come together, you can just feel the intense connection between them, the attraction, their chemistry was off the charts, it was sizzling. They were completely made for each other, they were good together. Their relationship may have been taboo but they were meant for each other.
I don't want to give to much away so I suggest if you love Taboo stories, this is a must read. I couldn't put the book down. I'd suggest reading it, it's great.
Thank you, Natalie Knight. Great work :)

So I found this book totally at random and I was curious to read something from this author so I was really excited to pick it up but. . . yeah. . . it ended up being just a freaking mess 🥴

This was supposed to be a slow burn but this was just a boring and nonsense story. The characters were SO boring and the story was inexistent. I also had some problems with the writing unfortunately. . . and I couldn't even say this was hot 🥴 there were a few hot scenes but nothing I haven't read before so 🤷‍♀️

This was kind of a disappointment unfortunately.

This book is somewhat similar to Bad Uncle, also by the same author. It's about two ppl taking a road trip across the country, an absentee father and his 18-year-old daughter who he's getting to know. But can Beau keep his thoughts and actions to himself, or will he cave to what he craves most; Audrey. This is a blood relations story between a father and a daughter, truthfully, I enjoyed this story more than Bad Uncle. Taboo stories are like a guilty pleasure, you know it's so wrong but it's so good to read. When Beau says "Kitten, are you going to let me f**k you?" had me blushing I could not stop reading. Beau is definitely Daddy material, and yes, I'd be calling him Daddy too.

I could not put this book down, I actively avoided being an adult so I could finish it! I truly loved Beau and Audrey’s story. This is an extremely taboo book and not for everyone.

I have fallen in love with this author! She is one of my favorite taboo authors and I will recommend her books to everyone who enjoys taboo romance books! Her writing is phenomenal and her characters are amazing!
Highly recommend!

3.5 stars - very taboo - blood related father and daughter. Father (Beau) left the h (Audrey) and her mom when she was 4 years old. She is now about to turn 18 and they reconnect. About 3/4's of this book is them getting to know each other. For some reason, I didn't feel the connection between these two....when they finally got together it didn't seem to fit. Story was well written but I've enjoyed many of Natalie Knight's books - especially her taboo reads - more.

This is going to be to taboo for most people but for me it just worked.

Audrey and Beau don't have any kind of relationship or contact with each other but when Audrey reaches out and they wind up in a cross country forced proximity kind of situation, things and feelings happen and what's these two crazy people to do expect do what feels right

I'm giving this 3 stars for effort (because for an author to write and publish it's an effort), but I did not finish it. Natalie Knight's books are usually pretty good for smut and entertaining, but this one was so off the wall that I stopped at 75%. Gritting my teeth through the spelling and grammar, I thought I would soldier on, but sadly I could not continue.

Stumbled across this. Much better than I thought it was going to be. Agree with other reviews that due to the 14 yrs estrangement, they seemed more age-gap than father-daughter. I thought maybe it would turn into a stepdad romance but it did't. Wasn't sure the story could be pulled off but Natalie did it.

Obviously, this is TABOO.
Please don’t yuck someone’s yum.
Because Daddy Beau?
Oof 😉 he’s got one lucky baby girl.

I would LOVE to see what their future looks like though, so I’m hoping for an epilogue because obviously I’m nosey and riding off into the sunset doesn’t work for me 😂

Don’t bother if taboo/incest is not your thing.
One of the top taboo/incest books I’ve read. Typically it’s just smut but this had an actual plot. You can feel the anguish, angst and love despite how wrong it was.

Sacando el taboo, aburrido y sin sentido, que nadie venia por la historia tampoco, pero ni eso lo salva. Malo
