Briggs My twenty-year NHL career ended on a high with my eighth Stanley Cup ring. I thought I’d play some golf and travel while I decided what was next. Instead, I’m on my way up to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to meet my newborn triplets. Three boys I will be raising on my own. I’m inexplicably drawn to the young woman in the nursery. She doesn’t know I’m here, listening to her tearful goodbye. I should let her go. She’s young enough to be my daughter. The sister of the psycho birth mother. And now she’s my live-in nanny.
Layla My life is falling apart. I’m about to be homeless. I knew it wasn't a good idea to get attached to the triplets. It’s going to break my heart to let them go. They’re the only bright spot in my dark world. I’m a poor, uneducated waif from the wrong side of the tracks. I don’t belong in his world. Briggs Westinghouse, hockey legend and billionaire entrepreneur, hired me to be the nanny to his triplets. He offered me a safe place to live, and the opportunity to be a part of my nephews’ lives. But he already has a nanny. He wants me for himself.
Writing romance started out as a hobby and an escape from the stresses of my day job. I tried Amazon first, finding no success. I decided I wanted the interaction and feedback from readers more than money. I started publishing on Inkitt, where I found the audience I was looking for. One day, I received an email from their sister app, Galatea, offering a contract for Journey’s End. Things took off from there, and I now have 7 books published on the app, and a nice little side hustle.
These are definitely quickie romance books that will have an HEA. The story itself isn’t fantastic but usually coherently written at least. Briggs is 38, retired from the NHL, former playboy. Layla is a 20 year old virgin who grew up poor and whose older half-sister drugged Briggs, had sex with him and got pregnant with triplets, then gave up her babies for money. Crazy? Yes. Long story short, Briggs hires Layla as a nanny and falls for her. He makes a lot of mistakes in their relationship. But eventually they work it all out and HEA, girl triplets and a grandchild later the bonus epilogue gives us a glimpse 18 years later. It wasn’t a great story, but it was okay. Briggs’ 18 yo daughter hitting on and sexually assaulting Layla though - eesh!
Galatea Audiobook I really liked this nanny / age gap / hockey romance. Briggs is the older protagonist, but not really the mature one. But I liked the character development, the storyline and the setting.
