Failure isn't what comes to mind when one thinks of marriage. Ansley Malveaux surely thought her life was perfect. Being married with three beautiful kids, and a job she loved, was the life she'd always dreamed of. Unfortunately, after seven years, her marriage had become just that - a failure. Learning to navigate through her new life as a single mother is exhausting and takes her on an emotional journey she isn't ready for, especially after meeting Jayden Young. Fear of moving on has her frozen in space, but Jayden is threatening to melt her heart at every turn. Being in love with a woman that isn't in love with him is the worst feeling ever for Jayden Young. Ansley has put him in the friend zone and he's patiently waited for her to change her mind. His whole mission is to help her rebuild her trust in men and love, by showing her he's trustworthy to handle her fragile heart.
As if life doesn't have enough challenges of its own, Ansley and Jayden find themselves in avoidable situations. Situations that, if they would only be true to themselves and each other, wouldn't arise. Ansley pushes against Jayden's every attempt at loving her, and at some point, wonders if he'll ever grow tired of her rejection. Will they finally work through the fears that cripple their blossoming relationship and threaten to dismantle their friendship? Or will they choose to stop fighting for love and let their fears prevail?
Starting with poetry, writing has always been a constant in Monica's life. The interest began in her teenage years, being in love for the first time. Her love for writing has only progressed. Song lyrics and poetry led to short stories, then one day in her down time, a short story became a 56k word novel. It has been non-stop since then. Being a wife and mother, has only added to the joys of Monica's life. Attaining a BS in Sociology, helping her better understand people and their behaviors, has only helped her become a better writer, understanding characters and their complex personalities. Romance of all types has been her passion, and she plans to continue honing her skills in that genre.
Ansley really went through a lot with her ex-husband Jonathan…but, he was unfortunately broken…he realized how he ruined his relationship and family. Jayden came along and restored Ansley’s faith in love….this was a really cute story…Alana stole the story for me.
I was glad to see how the story between Ansley and Johnathan played out. I didn't have a lot of faith that Ansley would love and honor her own needs above those of Jonathan, glad I was wrong. As women we often sacrifice our happiness for those around us. It's always great when a story allows a woman to honor herself with self love and demand what she knowingly deserves.
OMG, first of all, Alana was the cutest! I really wanted a girl, but the twins were so mature for their ages. I love my boys. It’s tough out here when the only man you’ve loved breaks you down. I’m sad things turned out the way they did for Jonathan...but, Jayden came through on his grown man ish!!! I always say it takes mature adults to coparent and give the kids love and stability...
So many emotions, this book made me use...i love how you showed men showing their emotions. I appreciate the age gap, with the woman being older. But whhen she slapped the mess out of them both, i holered. I koved every bit of this book, except Ranica and most of Jonathan.
I promise your writing in the romance genre makes me a believer in love again. I love how you are I afraid to address real life issues that face relationships everyday. Even more than that the way you conveyed the emotions and the struggle of the leading ladies heart struck me as prolific. Very well written.
Thank God that Ansley finally got it together, it was times i saw my self jumping in the book to shake her but her heart was so big i couldn't stay mad at her ! She wasn't going to shake Jayden anyway he loves hard and refused to let her suffer for her ex's mistakes !!! I absolutely loved this book!
I so did!!! Ooh although I was getting annoyed with Ansley for a minute...I loved this story!! But my boo Alana...little baby stole the show in this one!!! 💖💖💖
I swear Jonathan was a b!&?§ a$$ and made me want to jump through my Kindle the whole book. Ranika as well with her petty self. I’m glad Ansley started living for her and stopped allowing others to control her happiness. I definitely need more of this crew!
Only if You Let Me took my heart on a thrilling ride! Where is my Jayden because honeyyyy he is the truth. I could not get enough of him. All the love he had for Ansley and the kids just melted my heart. I was so happy Ansley was able to love him freely after everything with Jonathan. I loved how Jayden and Jonathan was able to work things out like men. Alana was my fave! She was sooo stinking adorable!! A perfect 5 star read😍
That dang Lana was just too darn cute! I live for how selfless and loving Jayden was. He’s so humble and caring and kind, the way he stepped up and accepted his “ready-made” family. That’s what real men do. Another cute love story! Monica honey, you’re on a roll. Keep it up!
Where one man won't, another one will! Come through Jayden!!!! Don't y'all let Jayden fool you. He may be young but he's ready baby. AND he gave that good love, that honey love lol. This book has me singing all types of songs. I've already hit y'all with 3 in this paragraph lol. Alana is so freaking adorable. I just want to pinch her little cheeks. Jonathan.... bless his little heart. You can't go around mistreating others and think you're getting away. You may get by but you don't get away. God has a way of whipping us back in line. Look at you Mrs. Monica, writing how you writing. I enjoyed every word and page of this book. Give me more!
Jonathan was stupid and selfish to cheat on Ansley with Ranika and to get her pregnant on top of that. I don't blame Ansley for getting a divorce because she didn't want to have to deal with Ranika'a conniving self. I was sad what happened to Ranika and Belan and that people were blaming Jonathan for what happened. I'm glad that Jayden stepped up to be the man, lover, friend, partner, and father that Ansley, Alana, Sage, and Garrett needed on their lives.
Wow, this group of writers are giving us a really nice collection of fine reading materials to enjoy. Ansley and Jayden made a lovely couple. Alana was a hoot..
I loved this story and the fact that Ansley stood her ground when it came to ending her marriage and taking things slow with Jayden until she was healed and ready for another relationship. Jayden had to have loved her to wait out that long knowing Ansley could go back to Jonathan. Forgive me, but I feel like karma got Jonathan real good. Then, he had the audacity to try to make life hard for Ansley after he was the wrong who cheated on her. These men never cease to amaze me. I love Jayden's relationship with the kids and how they built a good relationship. We all need a man as patient and understanding as Jayden when it comes to waiting until we see ready to take that next step!!
Johnathan is just like a man wanted to have his way. You cheated on Ansley and got a bitter woman pregnant and wanted your wife to be okay. But a chance encounter at the park Ansley met a guy named Jaden. Jayden was like a knight and shining armour. Alana really is little cutie everything that she said and done was just to cute
I’m sooooo glad you gave us their story. It was everything! It took Ansley a minute to come to her senses but she’s been through a lot so it’s understandable. Great read!
Ansley was in a marriage with a husband who cheated, she forgave him, but than the mistress turned up pregnant. While out with kids Ansley met Jayden, they exchanged numbers but she never told him that she was married. They talked on and off until Jayden found out she was married. During their time of not talking Ansley decided she wanted a divorce and to get to know Jayden. As Jayden and Ansley get to know each other, her husband tried his best to get her back. This cause alot of drama with Ansley and she broke it off with Jayden. Jayden wouldnt give up on her . They finally get back together. I loved this story because this showed that when you at least expect to meet someone they come in your life and change you for the better. Ansley finally got her self confidence back and was able to stand up for herself towards her ex husband. Also I cant forget that cute as a button Alana. Great read!!!
I don’t know about Jayden and Ans being the main characters because that little Alana was something else! Sometimes her innocent outburst forced the adults to have some needed conversations. Jayden’s patience is unparalleled to say the least. He knew Ans was the one he wanted, so he waited and waited and waited. Jayden loved Ansley to the moon and back, but he couldn’t really LOVE her until she let him! Nonetheless, I understand Ansley’s hesitancy and need to take things slow. Jonathan was a jerk who literally had to hit an emotional rock bottom before he saw the role he played in his downfall. The Lord has a way a humbling people and getting their attention. This was a great spinoff to Say He’s the One.
Well, Miss Monica, you know I love your stories; but Ansley frustrated the hell out of me! I was hollering at her and pacing carrying my kindle this entire book! Girl, get out of your own damn way! You got this good man begging to be with you, but you holding on to the loser baby daddy, who is showing his ass at every turn! SMDH!! I loved Jayden, he was all man, no matter his age. He knew what he wanted, and was willing to fight for her love. The way he accepted and cared for her kids, like they were his was just everything! Jonathan, I wanted to give several throat punches! Just bih made! But, so glad that Ansley finally got some act right, and allowed her man to be her man! 👍👍👍
Hmmmm, was it just me or was this book “Only If You Let Me” inundated with clusters of distracting love triangles jockeying for power & prominence 🤔? …IE: Ansley/Jayden/Jonathan; Ansley/Jonathan/Ranika; Jayden/Ansley/Korliss; Jonathan/Ranika/Belan vs. Alana/Garrett/Sage…no wonder she was emotionally withdrawn, insecure & frustrated constantly juggling & navigating her romantic relationship 🤦🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🥴‼️Wow, never a dull moment among the many facets of blended families, friends, lovers and a HEA‼️
I really enjoyed this book and the way the story unfolded!!!… Alana was definitely the cutest and the humor in the story!!!.. It took a lot for Jonathan to finally be honest about him trying to destroy Ansley’s happiness and desire to move on when he was the reason behind the destruction of their marriage!!!… Jayden deserved the happiness and I was glad he didn’t involve another person in this mess because he knew where his heart was!!!… My heart broke for Jonathan to lose his baby girl!!!…I was hoping he found him a friend!!!…
First off I read this book awhile. I know I left a review but damn I didn't. Monica Walters made me realize that with her giveaway, when I went to post my review!! Thanks. Now Ansley husband was a cheater and damn fool. Know one wants to deal with that foolish and I giving you seven and three kids, Hell naw. Here come young Jayden in a young man body but a grown ass man!! Yesss. I'm happy he was able to give Ansley and kids all she wanted and then some!!
Ansley had a hard time getting over Jonathan's infidelity, but Jayden was definitely trying to help. She gave Jayden a hard time because of her love and familiarity with Jonathan. Jayden loved Ansley and her kids with all of his heart, but she kept pushing him away. He refused to give up and she eventually gave in to his love and support. Amazing book and job well done!
What a wonderful story of love after divorce. "Ansley" became aware that her happiness was the key to her children's joy and her contentment was with "Jayden" . I thought that "Say He's the One" was special book. However, this book is exceptional!
This author is one of my favorites for so many reasons. She seems to have her finger on the pulse of social activity occurring in life. She handles the issues with care.
Loved it so much, I had to read it twice! 💖 My goodness, I was a worried mess trying to keep my emotions at bay. One minute my hands were balled into a fist with rage, and that " I know doggone well he or she didn't " feeling consuming me, then the next minute I'm all in my feels over Alana. Whew! Very well done Author Monica Walters for pulling every emotion out of your readers! 💝💪🏾
While this story line was decent, I couldn't get into it. The chemistry was truly missing for me. Jayden gave me whipped vibes & Ansley deff needed therapy. & Johnathan had ALLLLLL the audacity in the world. I loved the kids tho 🥰 Sage & Garrett were so smart & Alana was the absolute cutest. While I'm happy that Ansley & Jayden finally got on the same page, it just didn't flow for me. This really just seemed like something of convenience & not genuine connection.
Little Alana stole the show in this book. Ansley and Jayden are good together. Jonathan her ex husband was wrong for what he did. Jayden really loved Ansley. I am glad she was able to find happiness again with Jayden. Girl you write some good books. Can't wait to read your next book.
This book was such a great read... I don’t even know where to start with that Jonathan who was a complete mess..but Jayden #bookbae was everything plus more I’m just glad that Ansley was able to give him a fair chance...who cares about them when Lil miss Alana had each ands every person swooning that Lil girl was adorable...Definitely can’t wait to see what’s next
I enjoyed reading this book so much! I couldn't put my kindle down! I enjoyed Ansley and Jayden story! Jayden came along just when Ansley needed him. He was the man for her! I enjoyed the storyline and the chemistry between them both! Such a fantastic , emotional, and outstanding book!
