Our fathers have sinned, and are not; and we have borne their iniquities.
Lamentations 5:7
Caleb and Bristol escaped a near-death experience in Los Angeles. But unfortunately, the chaos is not exclusive to California. A cataclysmic economic and societal collapse is metastasizing across the country and has permeated the small, isolated town where Caleb and Bristol seek refuge.
Caleb and Bristol endure a harrowing cross-country road trip fraught with peril, scarcity, and danger to find Caleb’s grandparents. When they arrive, the kinfolk Caleb finds is not at all what he expected. But the global financial system is coming unraveled and they’ll have to make the best of the hand they’ve been dealt.
Caleb learns that Los Angeles isn’t the only place in America where maniacal miscreants have risen to power. The tentacles of the Koontz family are intertwined with local government positions as well as many Cocke County businesses. Likewise, their name seems to pop up at every misfortune around town. Caleb does his best to avoid the Koontzs, but when evasion ceases to be an option, Caleb will have to choose between fight or flight.
A showdown between good and evil is coming. Yet in a world filled with darkness, the lines separating the two can get blurry. Don’t miss the latest instalment in the new post-apocalyptic saga, Lamentations for the Fallen. Get your copy of Reckoning today!
Mark Goodwin is a Christian author and host of the popular Prepper Recon Podcast which interviews patriots, preppers and economists to help people prepare for the uncertain times ahead. His previous fiction series, The Days of Noah spent several months at number one on the Amazon best-sellers list in multiple categories. His first series, The Economic Collapse Chronicles, also hit the Amazon best-sellers list in several categories.
This is the second book in a Christian Futuristic Fiction series that rings far too true and too close to home. Though this is fiction, the events are scarily plausible. Perhaps it is time I became a prepper. Those who are already homesteading, as are the neighbors in the book, will have a better time coping with the changes if things fall apart and our government abandons us. The Christian themes threaded through are well handled and not heavy handed. I recommend Reckoning and look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Travel in their changing world isn't easy by any means. They have several challenges. But Caleb is listening to an App that allows both of them to hear the Word of YHWH. That combined with what he learned while working construction about the monetary system and hand2hand fighting gives both of them the advantages needed to make it alongside his grandpa Stan and the new friends they make. Invest your time in this book and have a notebook handy to collect any of the prepping tips Mark includes throughout.
Another fast-paced, great thriller by Mark Goodwin.....
Mark Goodwin has done it again with this prophetic, fast-moving thriller that seems to be taken directly from the headlines. All of Mark's books are Biblical and historical related. I enjoy all the Bible quotes and quotes from previous historical people, which are so appropriate for his storylines and characters. All his main characters continue to change and grow with each book. Once I start reading, I have a difficult time putting the book down, and I look forward to the next book in this series.
Thank you, Mark, for continuing to try to open people's eyes about the continuing failure of the world around us, and by attempting to give a warning of what is coming at us. God bless you!!
Reckoning, book 2 in the Lamentations for the Fallen series from Mark Goodwin, picks up with Caleb and Bristol as they get out of Los Angeles before everything collapses. I loved Caleb meeting his grandfather, Stan, and their acceptance of each other. I liked that the neighbors worked together to help each other in preparation of the tribulation. Caleb is a very mature individual who isn’t afraid of hard work. I liked Bristol, but found her immature at times. No doubt the coming times will cause her to grow and mature more.
Lamentations if the Fallen Book 2. Now on to book 3. I've enjoyed reading the books. So many of the things mentioned in the books are already happening with the economy now. Which will all happen at end times. Being smart and being prepared are very important to help us survive what will happen before Christ comes back.
Mark Goodwin paints an ugly future for America if we keep going down the path we are currently on. This is well written easy to understand post-apocalyptic fiction at its best. I enjoyed reading it!
This story is a very good example of what could happen in a posts apocalyptic worried. Along with the fear it also gives of examples of how to make it through. May God bless us all. Great job. Thank you. Looking forward to Book 3.
It’s becoming easier and easier to see truth in even the most conspiratorial fiction. Another great book by Mark Goodwin. Book 2 continues the story of Caleb as he searches for family in an ever increasing societal collapse
Nicely this middle book in Lamentations for the Fallen has a strong cadence all of its own.
Some intense interpersonal issues resolve, and the entire texture of the world they are surviving through changes as the evil machinations of others are in play.
Excellent read! Everything works together for good, to those that love the Lord! Twists and turns, with unexpected outcomes! Will probably read it over!❤️
Excellent as always. I have mixed feelings about prepping, but still a very good story, that could really happen in the tribulation. Also love the scriptures etc.
