The Vagabonds Novels #3

The Vendetta Plan

Rate this book
Would not letting go keep me from the one thing that mattered?

I had plans for the two weeks after my brother’s seaside wedding in Oregon. I would drive to Las Vegas, where I would publicly destroy my famous ex-boyfriend for embarrassing me in his tell-all autobiography.

I didn’t expect Julien Hart to find a way to come to the wedding with me. He was my best friend. We’d had a bad year as a result of that very same ex-boyfriend trying to push us apart and damaging our friendship forever…or so I thought.

Julien wasn’t supposed to figure out my revenge plan, and he certainly wasn’t supposed to come after me on my way to Las Vegas, determined to be there for me…and maybe determined for more than that.

I couldn’t let my ex get away with all he’d done, but I also couldn’t deny that things were heating up between Julien and me.

But I couldn’t give up my plan. Not now. Not after I’d gotten so close…could I?

Friends-to-lovers. A revenge plot against the ex who drove them apart. A road trip and only one hot spring. ~swoon~

Charlotte and Julien are terrific in this book. Charlotte is so focused on her need for revenge that she can’t see what is right in front of her. Julien knows what (and whom) he wants and has the patience to coax Charlotte along without pushing too hard. And coax her, he does.

There’s feels and steam and a wonderful journey from Oregon to Vegas that will have you desperate to plan a vacation, too.

Heat Factor: It feels kinda like a slow burn but it’s not TOO slow.

Character Chemistry: At first it’s not very apparent but a hot spring makes things…hot.

Plot: Charlotte gets her hiney handed to her after a brutal break up with a terrible ex…but worse, she nearly lost her long-time best friend, Julien, in the process. They end up going on a road trip—but while HER goal is sweet, sweet revenge, Julien’s is sweet, sweet love.

Overall: The writing was quite good (I’d read another book by this author in a pitter-pat of a heartbeat). If you’re a Marie Kondo reader, you’ll love this one.
I Love Mess

So Charlotte goes through this terrible relationship that kind of robs her of her self-esteem and her inner compass…and very nearly her long-term best friend, Julien. Julien asks to be her date to her brother’s wedding after a fairly significant hiatus from speaking, and Charlotte hesitantly agrees.

The thing is, she’s hell bent on taking a road trip after the wedding and showing up at her ex’s book signing in Vegas. Why? Because he wrote this super popular book all about how his difficult life brought him to acting and success and all that, and in it, he flips things around and acts like Charlotte was the abusive, cheating ex (when really it was HIM). So when Julien cancels his work trip and shows up to go on the road trip with her, Charlotte ends up having to tell Julien the truth. And the truth is very frustrating for Julien because he joins the trip with every intention of convincing Charlotte that they should try giving dating a go.

If you get romantically involved with your best friend, will it ruin the friendship?

Charlotte Bellamy works as a loan officer at a London. She's getting ready to take a vacation, or holiday as the British say, to come to the States for her younger brother's wedding. Now that Nick has his green card,  he's marrying Samara (Vagabond Souls book 1 of the series) at their home in Oregon. She has big plans for a side trip  after the wedding.

Julian Hart and Charlotte have been best friends for 11 years but haven't been in contact much once she had started dating movie star, Bryce Weston.

Julian had become friends with Nick due to Charlotte. He's been working 60+ hours a week for about a year and is scheduled for meetings in Seattle. He's asked if he can be Charlotte's +1 for Nick's wedding.

Charlotte broke up with Bryce after she caught him in her bed with another woman. She threw him out but in the tell all book he's just published she was the cheater. She plans to confront him at his book signing stop in Vegas.

With Nick along for the trip, will they be able to mend their relationship? Can he talk her out of confronting Bryce? Will she finally realize that Bryce will never change? He can only build himself up by tearing others down. And an axe to the face isn't too much punishment for Bryce, is it?

This is the 3rd book in “The Vagabond Series”. Charlotte is a loan officer working in London. Charlotte broke up with ex Bryce after catching him in bed with another woman. Bryce wrote a tell all book and totally embarrassed her by saying she was the one who cheated in the relationship. Julien and Charlotte have been friends for some time. Charlotte is taking a vacation and heading back to the states for brother Nick’s wedding. Charlotte had plans for after the wedding of going to LA for revenge on her cheating ex Bryce. Julien has asked to be Charlotte’s plus one throwing a monkey wrench in her plans for revenge.

Can Julien talk Charlotte out of her plot for revenge, will Charlotte and Julien finally realize that the two of the them are meant to be and find an HEA that they both deserve?

I'm friendly with this author on Twitter, and I'm also excited about this book. It was a really fun read.

There are some tropes in here that are pretty much always fun for me to read: road trip (I mean, come on, how can you resist that forced proximity?), best friends to lovers (with second chance energy because Charlotte's ex broke up their friendship), revenge... Okay, I'm not usually all in on a revenge trope, but Charlotte's reasons for feeling like she needed revenge on her ex were relatable (he's a HUGE JERK), and it was a point of tension between Charlotte and Julian as they repaired their and then later deepened their relationship. Love some good tension. Plus when Julian reveals himself to Charlotte... (fans self) Just a really delightful read.

Charlotte and Julien have always been close friends. When she was dating Bryce, their friendship became strained and awkward. Charlotte has broken up with Bryce, and after his book came out, she plans to make him pay.

Julien misses Charlotte, she has always been his one and is willing to be there for her, even if it was a crazy plan.

This is a good friend to lover story with a twist as she wants to out her ex. I love how they find their ways back to each other.

This is the second book by this author that I've read and it was just as good.

Charlotte is set on getting revenge on her horrible ex, Bryce. Her friend, Julie gets wind of her plan and jumps in to save her.

Fantastic story and looking forward to the next book.

I was definitely disappointed in this book. Charlotte came off as being a mean bratty woman with an attitude. She clearly had her mind set on one thing and that was it. Julien was great. I loved him. Such a nice guy but was not treated good up until the last couple of chapters.
