Hubo algo en la forma de escribir de la autora que hacía que lo que leías se viese tan distante e impersonal, que me mató la pasión. Pero, pese a eso es una historia estupenda. Anna Preston queda sola al morir su madre, la última familia viva que conoce. Pues una sorpresa le aguarda al leerse el testamento de la difunta, Anna descubre que tiene un abuelo y un guapo guardián que la llevará hasta él. Ahí se ven por primera vez, ella con 17 y él ya casi con 28. Y aunque se sientes atraídos, él sabe que ella apenas es una niña y... se aleja. A través de los años se van cruzando, cada vez más grandes, más maduros, a medida que ella pasa la universidad, las vacaciones. Ya no tiene 17, ya tiene 24. Y así va pasando el tiempo hasta que por primera vez están juntos, y nuevamente se separan por malentendidos de la vida.
El libro te muestra que la vida tiene momentos difíciles, pero que todo el mundo puede salir adelante. Que los errores se arreglan, pero si hay algo que el dinero no puede llenar, es el amor y la compañía. Nunca es tarde para perdonar.

Not a bad read, but a bit choppy and somewhat forgettable. Also, I have to make a comment on that awful cover. It really does not match the book at all. The story focuses on a young woman who is reunited with her long-lost family and who finds herself thrust into the fashionable set of 1930s England. It's a far cry from the prairie romance that comes to mind when I see the cover image.

As with the other Dickson's book I've read, there was constant head-hopping that I found very distracting, but the highlight of "Belhaven Bride" was information about the '30s in Europe it provided.
