Cayla was not the typical gun shot victim. A quiet waitress, she was brutally gunned down coming out of the neighborhood corner store. There was nothing taken, there was no motive, just a fragile, broken woman lying on the cold, broken sidewalk. Kale was not the easiest cop to get along with. Biting and sarcastic, he worked alone caring for little but the job. There was something about this case that Kale just couldn’t let go. There was something about this victim that called him unlike any other. Can they heal each other or will it just be a bandage on their wounds and they still fester?
Shara is- well let's just say touched. Born a Marine brat, Shara is a Navy Veteran with a pathological love for men in uniform, chocolate, and heroes that are maybe a touch psychotic. With over seventy-five books in her backlog, Shara has no intention of slowing down any time soon. She's definitely not safe for work, or the kids, or- you know what? She's just not safe.
Just okay. I was looking for something short to read before starting another full novel. And since I've read and enjoyed some other works by this author I decided on this one. I finished it but I thought the novella just missed that something. The story didn't flow smoothly. Transitioning between the chapters were a bit choppy.
The cover to this little book SUCKS having nothing to do with the actual story. Anyway, it's not a bad story, in fact I think had it been a bit longer Ms. Azod could have fleshed the characters out so that we would understand better why these two people were so drawn together so quickly. There is so much potential here.
Another short story by Shara Azod. I like her style of writing she gets right to the heart of the matter and grabs your attention very quickly. I loved Cayla and Kale story! Highly recommend for a quick read.
Well told story from start to finish likeable characters a short read but a good one. Shara Azod tells you a story that has your attention from beginning to end Kale and Cayla's story was so well told and written very easy to follow and imagine. The plot of the story was told in such a way that it kept you into it and had just the right amount of steaminess to it. Very good read.
