Gaze

Rate this book
"It's called a psychomanteum. A room entirely lined with mirrors. The walls, the floors, the ceiling. Everything. A dark but endlessly reflecting chamber. A refelction is a tricky thing. It seems so honest but at the same time it distorts. Left and rightbecome reversed. Imperfections in the glass cause subtle or drastic changes. Truth is not always what is reflected back. And for a lonely young man, what begins as curiosity and fascination turns to dread and anxiety as he drives himslef to discover whattruly lies beyond what we see in the mirror. Gaze is the story of the mirror's power over the human mind and the utter fear that comes from realizing the full extent of that power.

What came first, the chicken or the egg? Or in this case, the insanity or the psychomanteum?
I couldn't help but feel a resemblance to Stephen King's short story Jerusalem's Lot. Written in journal format, you are taking one man's take on reality.
I had goosebumps as I began to read, and regretted starting it right before bed. I didn't sleep soundly that night. Even without ever knowing the character's name, you find yourself being drawn into his delusions... or what you hope are simply his delusions.
