Self-Confidence for Actors

Rate this book
Want to show up to auditions and acting jobs brimming with confidence? If you are tired of battling your inner demons, psychology can help.

Life as an actor brings out a lot of insecurities.

Every time you go to an audition, begin rehearsals, or give a performance, the most personal things about yourself–your physicality, personality, and mannerisms–are put on display and critically evaluated.

Given this ever-present scrutiny, your self-confidence can suffer, affecting your ability to perform.

High-pressure situations, such as an important audition, a table read, or opening night, are often where your self-confidence may falter, resulting in missed opportunities, regrets, and sometimes marking the onset of chronic stage fright.

If this sounds familiar, psychology can help.

For several decades, psychologists have studied the problems associated with low self-confidence and developed a range of simple yet powerful techniques to overcome such barriers.

Self-Confidence for Actors explains in clear and jargon-free language how to apply these psychological tools to your craft.

Great quick read that does a little dive into psychology and the actors’ life. Pretty helpful, and I’ll surely reread it in the future, when some of it will be even more applicable to me

Straightforward, practical insight and tools

This is a helpful book for an actor or an on-camera professional who is returning to the “stage” following a long hiatus. Alexa Ispas has written a self-help book with uncomplicated language, offering practical steps to combat negative self-talk and manifestations. It deserves the five-star nod, because it’s effective and offers what it promises in the introduction. Thanks, Alexa!

inspiring!

This book gives us permission to explore all the wonderful things that we contain within ourselves. And, in the process, builds self-confidence, not only as an actor but in all areas of life.

This book has some good tips, but it's short and a little pricey. Still, I'm glad I read it, and I would consider buying the other ones in the series.

Muy sencillito y bastante básico pero si aporta unos pocos consejos que parecen atacar bastante bien las raices de los problemas.
Ya veré si funcionan o no
