The Paper Princess Flies Again: With Her Dog!
Not so far away, in Mexico, a girl named Lucy loved a paper princess. . . After her many travels, the Paper Princess has finally found a good home with Lucy. She even has a paper dog to keep her Company. One day, as the household prepares for a big fiesta, the Paper Princess and her dog set out to find a gift for the girl who has cared for them so well. Their adventure leads them to a kite-flying boy, a hungry coyote, and the wide and windy ocean. Will the princess and her dog ever find their way home again?

Pretending turns real, then takes on a life of its own. Originally, a girl named Lucy has created and imagined that paper princess. Later, Lucy makes that princess her very own dog.
The rest of this book is all about what happens to these two friends, the dog and the princess, in Mexico.
Lucy's participation in all this goes in and out, just like real-life pretending. For instance:
CRACK, the pinata burst open.
Out they tumbled, with the sweets, into the light of the fiesta,
into a ruckus of laughing and shouting,
into Lucy's hands.
"My princess! My dog!" she cried. "You're back."
"We are!" said the princess. "Though I'm not sure how we got here."
FIVE STARS for this adorable flight of imagination, gorgeously illustrated -- as well as written -- by Elisa Kleven.

A fun story about a little paper princess and dog who go on an adventure on a flying carpet (a bit of ribbon) and try to get back to their little girl, Lucy, who lives in Mexico.
