a good addition to any sewing library, but it suffers a little bit by a lack of actual photographs of jacket construction. it's choc full of technical drawings, but it would be nice to have more photographs.
there's not a lot of higher-level analysis of why some methods are preferred over others, so i probably wouldn't recommend this to an absolute beginner (who shouldn't be making suits yet, anyway) over something that is less one-size-fits-all. that said, sewing books generally tend to be one-method! someone interested in trousers specifically should check out david coffin's book, which could supplement this one well.
