///தினேஷ் , என்னாச்சு ?? இங்க எப்படி வந்தே ? எதுக்கு வந்தே?

Interval Block Twist.

Every single time I read Sujatha's books, I am overwhelmed by his intellectuality.

This story, dealing with supernatural forces and auditory hallucinations is about how a software engineer's life is disturbed by these. He had mentioned various reasons and incidents of past for believing and not believing these forces.

A thorough entertainer with Sujatha's own wit. I'm amazed at the way he easily imparts knowledge to his readers which even corresponding subjects would fail to. And how includes Shelly and Shakespeare in his novels. <3

Auditory hallucinations - I Heard this from Kaathugal book. In that there's no scientific answer I felt that is completely imaginary story. In the POV of Sujatha and his study about each and everything makes me feel like wow factor. Really enjoyed Sujatha writings ✨

This is one of Sujatha's finest psychological thrillers, released in 1992, that dabbles in the area of inexplicable. Dinesh is a software engineer whose life suddenly takes a turn when he starts hearing voices in his head. These are auditory command hallucinations - voices that instruct him to kill himself and soon takes him over completely. He becomes a danger to his friends and family who are trying to help/save him.

Then the voices grow into a personality - he is addressed as Gopal, the little boy in a real story from the 1950s about Jayalakshmi teacher in Trichy - a city he has never been to. Between multiple episodes of breakdown and psychological intervention, the story from 1950s is revealed and it is gory. But that is nothing short of what happens next when the narrative gets taken over by another character/personality in Dinesh's body.

There is a tantalising element of previous births and hypnotism - but auditory hallucinations and schizophrenia must have been very novel for a story that was written in a weekly. Remember this is before Multiple Personality Disorder was popularised by movies. I was also mildly scandalised by the ease of killing off people - a very scary ploy to use. With every chapter ending with the letter "AAh", the book is bold in it's theme and content.

The ending left me a bit confused, but then it's one of those books that is unputdownable.

Though I complete my challenge every year, I always use to give an extra kick by reading +1 or 2 books to boost myself for next year. So, 'Aaah'- an auxiliary one.
Okaaaaaaaaaay! So the Finale review of my last book of Goodreads challenge 2016 :)

Life after death - Its not about I believe, But its really an interesting thing you can do deeper search :)

Twist. A good thrilling ride. Must read

Its my first novel of the great "Sujatha"... Being very much inspired by his film dialogues I just started to explore his literary works...This novel released in year 1992(two years before when I was born)...But its contents are shockingly "software programming in VHDL, Split and multiple personality(chandramuki,Anniyan),hypnotism(7 am arivu),auditory hallucinations,Neurology,Reincarnation(Anegan) and so on counts. And keep it in mind it was released in 1992.He's such a magnum opus of intellect who simply narrates coming of age stories by his master story telling ability...I think all his works in Tamil literary career are the base for all these movies I mentioned above and other such ones which holds advanced concepts...Looking forward to read him more...Conveying my request to you to look into his books...

A mind boggling psychological thriller, a Ganesh vasant series with a inception type ambiguous ending.

I started reading this novel as I came to know that there is a movie coming out adapted from this novel. Schizophrenia and past life regressions form the basis of this novel. For a novel published in 1992, this is too good to be the central plot. In fact, when Sujatha was writing this novel for Vikatan, so many readers reached out to him saying that they were also hearing voices in their head and some even believed that this novel had some closure for them.

I was so impressed until I was halfway through the novel when the protagonist makes sense of everything happening to him. Then the story completely fell flat. Also I felt that there is not enough character building so that you can empathize with the characters. May be its because of the fact that this novel was published in parts.Worth a read though!

Though end of the book is pretty disappointing, the way a person is slowly being possessed by another personality is very well explained.

How could a person think on so much details on such kind of possessions is astonishing, that is the reason why he is such a good writer.

The plot is basically very simple, but narration and way of story telling is something that could be taken as example.

Awesome read. Don't miss the chance of reading this if you get any.

Dinesh Kumar is a 30 year old techie working in a software firm.
He recently got married to Devaki, a typical case of love at first sight.
Well educated, and well settled, Dinesh doesn't have any plausible reasons for worry.
If only😮
Dinesh has been traumatized by auditory hallucinations of late.
"Commanding voices" in his head feed suicidal thoughts into him forcing him to take the final leap. He escapes from such a close shave.
Dinesh subjects himself to different 'treatments' to rid himself of those voices, both scientific and supernatural. The voices do quieten for a while under the effect of Thoracin but at other times, they lead him to an unsolved murder mystery that took place in Trichy about fifty years ago through the names of the involved parties, " Jayalakshmi, Sharma, Pandari, Gopalan." What happens when Sharma's voice completely dominates Dinesh's conscious and plots to avenge his death caused by Jayalakshmi, that is her present day lookalike Devaki?
Much later in the story, lawyers Ganesh and Vasanth enter the scene and bring in their wisecracks, debating the possibility of reincarnation and vengeance from previous births.
Sujatha's description is sure to disturb your sleep.

Felt like watching a boring creepy pasta YouTube video, where the host competes with a inferior version of ChatGPT to list all the related words and jargon to the topic they are discussing

For example to describe someone with a mental health issue goes on listing all the medical terms to show off to the reader he is more knowledgeable

What is it with the plot ? Again looks similar to a llm chat model started with something interesting then goes on hallucinating to become AI slop

Can’t connect with the protagonist, surely this must be a weekly series. Started as a suicidal guy, then kills his wife out of nowhere for shock value and goes on justifying that for most part of the book, that too the same scene repeated over and over again - Dinesh being asked the same question why kill his wife to which he answers Sharma did it over and over again

What is the point of the story , and why does it have a good rating with 800+ reviews

One of my very early reads !! Definitely a thriller at its best. What Tamil fiction misses is such kind of thrillers. These kind of thrillers should be the gateway for readers to come into Tamil writing and then into Tamil literature.

Thinking about this book, the pace, its thrilling content, the free flowing narrative, I'd still put this (along with Kolaiyuthir Kaalam) at the top of my best Tamil commercial thrillers list.

Typical Sujatha. Brilliant story building and the end couldn't be better. I could have finished this book much sooner had it been an eBook. Lack of access to read paperback at home, I read this slowly, but devoured and savored the sweetness. Towards the end, the burning question inside us, is asked and answered as well. That's where a whole new story could be seen! 5*!
