About the author

Sujatha was the allonym of the Tamil author S. Rangarajan, Author of over 100 novels, 250 short stories, ten books on science, ten stage plays, and a slim volume of poems. He was one of the most popular authors in Tamil literature, and a regular contributor to topical columns in Tamil periodicals such as Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam and Kalki. He had a wide readership, and served for a brief period as the editor of Kumudam, and has also written screenplays and dialogues for several Tamil movies.

As an engineer, he supervised the design and production of the electronic voting machine (EVM) during his tenure at Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a machine which is currently used in elections throughout India. As an author he inspired many authors, including Balakumaran, Madhan.

மீண்டும் துரு-துரு ஜீனோ நிலா, சிபி, முகத்திரை கிழிக்கப்பட்ட ஹோலோக்ராம் ஜீவா, ரவி மற்றும் மனோ !
விஞ்ஞான மாற்றத்தால் ரசாயனமாகி போன மனிதர்களின் உணர்வோடும், தொழில்நுட்பத்தால் மழுங்கடிக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு தேசத்தொடும் ஒரு புத்தகம். "என் இனிய இயந்திரா"வில் விட்டு போன கேள்விகளுக்கு பதிலுடன் வந்திருகிறது அழகுகுட்டி ஜீனோ ^_^
போன நூற்றாண்டின் மகத்தான தவறு ஜனநாயகம் தான் என்று கருத்து பேசும் போதும், நிலா சிபியுடன் சேரும்போது பொறாமை படும்போதும் கவர்கிறது ஜீனோ :)
என்றேனும் ஒரு நாள் இவையெல்லாம் நடக்கலாமோ என்ற பயம் அடிவயிற்றில் பரவியது !மனிதன் உருவாகியதொன்று மனிதனை ஆளும் நாள் !

80-90 களில் எழுதிய நூலில் இவ்வளவு அறிவியல் விடயங்கள் இருக்கும் என்று எதிர்பார்க்கவில்லை.
விறுவிறுப்பான வாசிப்பு.
ஒரு அத்தியாயம் முடித்தவுடன், அடுத்த அடுத்த அத்தியாயங்களை படிக்க தூண்டியது..

ஆசிரியருக்கு ஏனோ சனநாயக ஆட்சியின் மீது நம்பிக்கையில்லை.
ஆசிரியர் கதை திரைக்கதை வசனம் எழுதிய பல சங்கர் படங்களில் அவை வெளிப்பட்டது. இந்த நூலிலும் அதுவே வெளிப்பட்டது..

படித்து முடித்தவுடன் ஏனோ இந்த நூல், இக்காலத்திற்கு உகந்ததாக இல்லை, உள்ளடக்கம் பழையதாக தோன்றியது.

சில இடங்களில் ஜார்ஜ் ஆர்வெலின் விலங்கு பண்ணை (Animal Farm by George Orwell) புத்தகத்தை ஞாபகப்படுத்தியது..

I finished the first part and almost immediately started this book and maybe that had made this a mixed bag. Nila is the queen of the puppet Government and she is kept under chemically induced trance that takes away her focus. Geno is in mortal peril then it finds an improbable way to make a comeback. Revolution is the only way forward and it is in the making to overthrow the anarchy of Mano and Ravi.

The book, while doesn't falter on the imagination, gets too ambitious. It felt like a mass star masala movie where the hero can do no wrong and the villians are ineffectual. For artificial intelligence to be shown higher we magnify human stupidity. Nila seems too dumb to be a queen of standing and hence why her is never explained.

The wow thinking of clones, hacking and illusions is impressive especially before the terms came into being. Also the critical sarcasm on democracy was funny and yet true. I can see how this became the idea of the movie Enthiran though, I must confess, to see a dog being the smartest animal in a room of humans was a comforting thought.

Kudos to the imagination and for writing a thriller. Wish it had been more subtle on heroism.

'என் இனிய இயந்திரா' நாவலின் தொடர்ச்சியாக வந்த இந்நாவலிலும் ஜீனோவே கதாநாயகன். ஆனால் சின்னஞ் சிறிய உருவமாக வலம் வருகிறது.. கடுகு சிறுத்தாலும் காரம் குறையாது என்பதற்கேற்ப Heuristics உடன் கூடிய self learning programming ஆற்றல் கொண்டு தன்னை யாரும் எளிதில் அளிக்கமுடியாத சக்தியாக உருமாறி அனைவரின் கண்களிலும் விரல் விட்டு ஆட்டும் ஜீனோவின் சாகசங்கள் இந்நாவலின் முக்கிய அம்சம். இயந்திரங்களால் நிறைந்த அதே பிறழ்ந்த உலகம்தான் கதைக்களம். தாங்கள் அடிமைப்படுத்தப் பட்டிருக்கிறோம் என்பதை அறியாமல் அடிமையாக இருக்கும் மக்கள். "ஆட்சி மாற்றம் நிகழ்ந்தாயிற்று, மக்களின் பிரதிநிதியாகத் தோன்றிய நிலா கதாப்பாத்திரமே நாட்டின் பிரதமராக வந்தாயிற்றி, இனி வருங் காலம் வசந்த காலம்" என்ற கனவில் மிதந்து கொண்டிருக்கும் அந்நாட்டு மக்களிடம் புரட்சி மனப்பான்மையை ஜீனோ என்ற இயந்திரத்தால்தான் விதைக்க முடிந்தது. ⁣

அடிமைத்தனத்திலிருந்து மக்களை விடுவிக்க வேண்டும் என்ற எண்ணம் கொண்ட ஜீனோக்களுக்கும் துரோகம் இழைக்கக் கூடிய உயர்ந்த குணம் ரத்தமும் சதையுடன் கூடிய மனித உயிர்களிடம்தான் நிரம்பி வழிகிறது என்று காட்சிப்படுத்தியிருப்பது இந்நாவலின் சாட்டையடி. நவீனமாக உலகம் மாறினாலும் சுஜாதாவின் நிலாக்கள் மட்டும் வெறும் நிலாக்களாகவே, ஆண்களின் போகப்பொருளாகவே இருக்கிறார்கள். தொடர்ந்து சுஜாதா நாவல்களில் எனக்கு கிடைக்கும் அதிருப்தி அது.⁣

 புரட்சிகள் பல புரிந்த மாபெரும் தலைவர்கள் இம்மண்ணுலகத்தை விட்டு மறைந்தாலும், அவர்கள் உயிருடன் தான் எங்கோ இருப்பார்கள். அநியாயம் தலைவிரித்து ஆடும் பொழுது, மக்களை காக்க எப்படியும் வந்துவிடுவார்கள் என்று புரட்சியைப் பிறரிடமிருந்து எதிர்பார்க்கும் மக்கள் இருக்கும் வரை சனநாயக நாடு என்பது வெறுங் கனவே என்பதை உணர்த்திச் செல்கிறது இந்நாவலின் முடிவு.⁣

இறப்பு என்றால் என்ன என்று தெரியாத இயந்திரம், அதற்கு இணையான இழப்பை அறியும் போது தன்னை அறிகின்றது. தன்னை அழிவில்லாததாக மாற்றிக் கொள்கின்றது. ஆனால் பிறந்தது அனைத்தும் அழிந்தே தீர வேண்டும் என்ற விதிப்படி, ஜீனோவின் புரட்சியில் அதுவே அழிந்து போகின்றது. கதைக்கு அந்த முடிவில்லை என்றால் முற்று பெறாமலே போயிருக்கும்.

இரண்டு அந்தியாயங்களுக்கு நடுவே ஒரு தொடர்புமில்லாமல் துண்டு துண்டாக வருகின்றது. காமாவுடன் நிலா நடனமாடும் நிகழ்ச்சி வருகின்றது, அது அப்படியே அந்தரத்தில் நின்றுவிட்டு கதை எங்கோ போகின்றது. மற்றொரு அந்தியாயத்தில் நிலா ஜீனோவை விவியில் பார்க்கின்றால், அடுத்த அந்தியாயத்தில் நிலாவும் ஜீனோவும் சேர்ந்து வேறு எங்கோ இருக்கின்றார்கள்.

ஜீனோ இதில் மிக நிறைய technical-ஆக பேசுவது ரசிக்கவைக்கிறது ! எல்லா கதாபாத்திரங்களையும் பின்னுக்கு தள்ளிவிட்டு முன்நிற்பது ஜீனோ தான். முடிவில் நாட்டுக்கு ஜனநாயகம் கிடைத்தவுடன் இளைஞர்கள் குடித்துவிட்டு அருங்காட்சியகத்துக்கு நெருப்பு வைப்பதிலிருந்தும், ‘கடந்த நூற்றாண்டின் மகத்தான தப்பு ஜனநாயகம்’ என்று ஜீனோ சொல்வதிலிருந்தும் ஜனநாயகத்தை கேலி செய்திருப்பார் சுஜாதா !

மீண்டும் ஜீனோவில் sequel உண்டாவதற்கு எல்லா சாத்தியங்களுடனும் முடிந்திருந்தது ! – தப்பிச்சென்ற வில்லன், அவசியம் ஏற்பட்டால் கிருஷ்ண பரமாத்மா போல மீண்டும் உயிர்ப்பிக்கும் என்ற மக்கள் நம்பிக்கையில் ஜீனோ என்று open endஆக முடிக்க பட்டிருந்தது ! ஆனால் அதற்க்கு ஸீக்வல் எழுதுவதற்க்கு சுஜாதா இப்போது இல்லையே ! :/

மீண்டும் ஜீனோ - என் இனிய இயந்திர வின் தொடர்ச்சி, 1987 ல எழுதுன ஒரு புக் பத்தி 30+ வருஷம் அப்புறமும் பேச முடியுதுனா அது தான் சுஜாதா. 2021 ல நடக்கிற ஒரு sci-fi கதை "என் இனிய இய��்திரா"வில் விட்டு போன கேள்விகளுக்கு பதிலுடன் வந்திருகிறது மீண்டும் ஜீனோ. நிலா, சிபி, மனோ, ரவி, Dr.ரா, உதவி என எல்லா கதாபாத்திரங்களையும் பின்னுக்கு தள்ளிவிட்டு முன்நிற்பது இயந்திர நாய் ஜீனோ தான். Artificial Intelligence, Heuristic algorithm, Stack overflow, Vector, Database, Digital Encryption இப்படி இவ்ளோ விஷயத்த ஒரு கதையில சொல்ல முடியும்னா அது சுஜாதா என்ற ஒற்றை ஜெனிஸ் நெனச்சா தான் முடியும்.

‘கடந்த நூற்றாண்டின் மகத்தான தப்பு ஜனநாயகம்’ னு சொல்ற இடத்துலே சுஜாதா டச்.

இந்தப் புத்தகம் தொழில்நுட்பத்தில் மிகவும் மேலோங்கி விளக்குகிறது.அன்பு என்று வந்துவிட்டால் அது எந்திரம் அல்லது மனிதன் என்று பாகுபாடு பார்க்க கிடையாது என்பதை சொல்கிறது. AI, database bank இவை அனைத்தும் 1987லே எ இதை பற்றி விளக்கியிருக்கிறார், இன்று அதை IoT என்று 2020இல் செயல்பட்டுக்கொண்டிருக்கிறது. இந்தப்புத்தகம் சுஜாதாவின் தொலைநோக்குப் பார்வையை மிகவும் துல்லியமாக விளக்குகிறது.

Heuristics என்ற விஞ்ஞான தத்துவத்தின் அடிபடியில் இயங்கும் ஜீனோ. வெகுளியான நிலா, அராஜகம் செய்யும் ரவி, மனோ இவர்கள் தம் இந்த கதையின் மையம் . என் இனிய இயந்திர படிக்காதது எனக்கு இழப்பாக தெரியவில்லை. கதையின் தொடர்ச்சியில் அதன் சாயல் இருந்தாலும் தனிச்சையாகவே இருக்கிறது. ஒரு எந்திரம் மனிதனின் உணர்வுகள் அனைத்துமே அவன் அழிவுக்கு கரணம் என்பதை எடுத்து காட்டுகிறது. மிகவும் எதார்த்தமான கேள்விகளை எழுப்பும் இந்த ஜீனோ. கோவத்தில் கேட்ட கோபம் உண்டா ? நான் என்னும் அடையாளம் என்ன? என்ற பிலோசொபிகல் கேள்விகள்.சுஜாதா வை போல் தமிழில் விஞ்ஞானம் தழுவிய கதைகள் எழுத ஆள் இல்லை.வேகத்தோடு சேர்ந்து விஞ்ஞானம் கலந்த ஒரு குட் ரீட்

"மீண்டும் ஜீனோ" - சுஜாதா

1987களில் ஆனந்த விகடனில் அறிவியல்-புனைவு தொடராக வெளிவந்த புதினம். அதற்கு முந்தைய காலகட்டத்தில் எழுதப்பட்ட "என் இனிய இயந்திரா" என்ற நாவலின் தொடர்ச்சியே இநநாவல்.

கிபி 2021ல் கதை நிகழ்வதாக முதல் பாக நாவல் பற்றிய முன்னுரையில் கூறப்படுகிறது.
உலகில் அனைத்தும் அறிவியல் மயமாய் காணப்பட்ட அப்போதைய(தற்காலம்!) காலகட்டத்தில், ஜீவா எனும் சர்வ வல்லமை பொருந்திய அரசனை புரட்சியால் இறக்கிவிட்டு, நிலா என்பவளை ராணியாக்குகின்றனர், ரவி மற்றும் மனோ! இந்த அரியணையேற்றம், இவ்விருவரின் கூட்டு சதி. முந்தைய பாகத்தில், 'ஜீனோ'(கிரேக்க சிந்தனையாளர் பெயராம்) எனும் அதிபுத்திசாலி ரோபோ நாயை அழித்து விடுகின்றனர் ரவியும் மனோவும். ஆனால், அது ராணி நிலவிடம் வந்து சேர்ந்து, அவளை எப்படி ரவி மற்றும் மனோவின் மாய வலைப்பின்னலில் இருந்து மீட்கிறது என்பதுதான் கதை.

மேலும் நிலாவின் கணவன் சிபி, டாக்டர் ரா, அவரின் உதவியாளர் 'உதவி', மற்றும் எண்ணற்ற ரோபோக்கள் கதைமாந்தர்களாக கொண்டிருக்கிறது இக்கதை.

நாம் இப்பொழுது பரவலாக பேசும் "Artificial Intelligence"ஐ, "The Handbook of Artifical Intelligence" என்ற புத்தகத்தை ஜீனோ படிப்பதாக மேற்கோள் காட்டியிருப்பது(1987லேயே), திரு சுஜாதா ஏதும் Time Travel செய்து 2021ற்கு வந்து சென்றாரா எனும் அளவிற்கு ஆச்சரியப்பட வைக்கிறது. மேலும் CCT camera, GPS, போன்ற தொழில்நுட்பங்கள் பின்னாட்களில் பரவலாகும் என கணித்து, அதனை பயன்படுத்தியிருக்கிறார். 18+ வகையான வர்ணனைகள் சொற்ப அளவில் தூவப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.

அது போக திரு சுஜாதா அவர்களின் trademark கதை சொல்லல், அடிபொலி ., அதாவது நீட்டி முழக்கி பேசும் வசனங்களை, அவரின் கதைமாந்தர்கள் பேசுவதில்லை.சுருங்க சொல்லி நிறைய விளக்கும் பாணி.

'எந்திரன்' படம் இந்த நாவலின் சம்பவங்களில் இருந்து உருவானதுதான் என்பதை, இதனை வாசிக்கையில் நன்கு உணரலாம்.

IT துறையில் உள்ளவர்களுக்கு, இந்த நாவலில் உள்ள அணைத்து தொழில்நுட்ப சொற்களும்(Terminology), விளங்கக்கூடியவை.. அதனால் அவர்கள், நாவலை நன்கு தொடர்புபடுத்திக்கொள்ள முடியும்..
ஆனால் பிறதுறையினர்க்கு சிறிது முயற்சி தேவை. அதுவும் அந்தகால வாசகர்கள் எப்படி இத்தனை தொழில்நுட்ப சொற்களை தொடர்பு படுத்தி கொண்டார்கள் என்பது நமக்கு இன்னும் விளங்கவில்லை.

அற்புதமானதொரு அறிவியல்-புனைவு புதினம் !

முடிந்தால் 'என் இனிய இயந்திரா'வை வாசித்த பின், இந்நாவலுக்கு வரலாம்!

Really love this book at lot! Every chapter increases the admiration and respect that I have on the cute character called "Jeeno". Even though Jeeno was created by humans, it is different from human's way of thinking and reactions. There is a lot to learn from Jeeno. He has all the wonderful attributes such as helping tendency, respect, caring, brilliance, honesty, simplicity, trustworthiness, friendship and love.

Climax is very sentimental. Even though jeeno is a machine, it still respects the fact that birth and death is unpreventable. If there is a birth, there is a death and it is applicable to Jeeno as well. Jeeno was never destructive and selfish throughout the novel. It has made use of it's self-learning capacity in a good manner. Like humans, jeeno was emotional when it came to know about it's end but it accepted the fact that "it will not die but continue to live without functioning". Comparisons made between Bhagavath Gita and Jeeno's explanation about it's end is brilliant. Jeeno is still living with us :) Thank you Sujatha sir.

என் இனிய இயந்திரா வை விட அதன் இரண்டாம் பாகம் தேவலாம். கதையென்று பார்த்தால் ஒன்றும் பெரிதாக இல்லை. ரவி மற்றும் மனோவின் சதியால் பொம்மை ராணியாக நடத்தப்பட்டு வருகிறாள் நிலா. ஜீனோ என்னும் அந்த ரோபோ நாய் அவளை எப்படி காப்பாற்றுகிறது என்பதே கதை.
ஆனால் இதில் சுஜாதாவின் வன்மத்தை பார்க்க முடிந்தது. சுஜாதா ஜனநாயக ஆட்சிக்கு எதிராக உள்ளார். மாறாக அனைவரையும் அடக்கி ஒடுக்கினாலும் சர்வாதிகார ஆட்சியில்தான் ஒழுங்கு இருக்கும் என நம்புகிறார்.
கதையில் ஜனநாயக ஆட்சி வந்ததும் மீண்டும் லஞ்சம் வாங்குதல், மக்கள் தொகை அதிகரித்தல், சாலைகளில் வாகனங்கள் அத்து மீறி செல்தல் போன்ற விஷயங்கள் நடக்க துவங்கின என கூறி இருப்பார். சர்வாதிகார ஆட்சியில் இதெல்லா��் ஒழுங்காக இருக்குமாம். சிம்பிளா சொல்லணும் நா மனுஷன் மன்னராட்சியை விரும்புறார்.
அந்த மாதிரி மக்கள் யார் தலைவன்னு வந்தாலும் கைய தட்டி உடனே ஏத்துப்பாங்க னு ஒரு ஆட்டு மந்தை மாதிரி காமிச்சு இருந்தார்.
ஒருவேளை அவர் தலைமுறை அப்படி இருந்திருக்கலாம். இப்ப நாங்க கொஞ்சம் யோசிக்க கத்துகிட்டோம் தல. மத்தபடி இந்த புத்தகத்தை சும்மா படிக்கலாம். எந்திரன் படம் பாக்குற மாதிரி இருக்கும்.

If you’re a Sujatha fan, even if you’re not, this book is a must read! Any reader will be left puzzled by Sujatha’s knowledge about technology. Since this story was written in 1987 when science and technology was not developed I’ll conclude that Sujatha was a visionary in technology and was way ahead of others. I’ve no doubt that any reader will have similar impression.

Note: The reader would find many dialogues appearing in this novel are similar to the dialogues in the tamil feature film Enthiran (Robot). It is noteworthy that the story of that film was penned by none other than Sujatha himself.

There are very little dystopian literature in tamil. This is one of the best. You may feel that Sujatha has portrait may characters too bad. But that's how dystopia looks when people stops giving up on society and chooses easy path. I can see George Orwell flavor here and there, still this is a great work.

It's mind boggling how he thought of such a storyline back in the 80s. He even predicted all humans will be addressed by numbers in 2020. May be a little outdated for now, still there are things left afresh.

Excellent sequel to en ini yendira. Sujatha writing is excellent. This is the precursor to enthiran movie. Jeeno is the basic of chitti character. But it's very different story. Excellent science fiction novel

I can see many scenes from enthiran 1 and 2 from this novel. Sujatha is a legend to write this novel many years back. wish he could have stayed more years and given us some more scientific novels
