Bethany asks Jordan Fitzpatrick, owner of Reckless Abandon, to find her a Master, agreeing to accept his choice. But never would she have guessed that he'd choose young hard-body Jonathan Steele. Fifteen years her junior and a friend for years, Jonathan soon lets her know, in no uncertain terms, that he is coming for her one way or another. Jonathan's sights are on Beth, and though she readily accepts her true sub nature, he knows he's in for a struggle. Beth has been taught by her late husband that she can only depend on herself--a lesson that will be a challenge for Jonathan to undo. With the help of best friend Peter Hamilton and the atmosphere of the city's premier BDSM Club, Reckless Abandon, Jonathan knows it's a challenge well worth meeting. The only uncertainty is whether or not he can get Beth to completely surrender to him before another does her harm.

Morgan has been a writer since she was first able to pick up a pen. In the beginning it was a hobby, a way to create a world of her own, and who could resist the allure of that? Then as she grew and matured, life got in the way, as life often does. She got married and had three children, and worked in the field of accounting, for that was the practical thing to do and the children did need to be fed. And all the time she was being practical, she would squirrel herself away on quiet Sunday afternoons, and write.

Most children are raised knowing the Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule. Morgan’s children also learned the Paper Rule: thou shalt not throw out any paper that has thy mother’s words upon it.

Believing in tradition, Morgan ensured that her children’s children learned this rule, too.

Life threw Morgan a curve when, in 2002, she underwent emergency triple by-pass surgery. Second chances are to be cherished, and with the encouragement and support of her husband, Morgan decided to use hers to do what she’d always dreamed of doing: writing full time. “I can’t tell you how much I love what I do. I am truly blessed.”

Morgan has always loved writing romance. It is the one genre that can incorporate every other genre within its pulsating heart. Romance showcases all that human kind can aspire to be. And, she admits, she’s a sucker for a happy ending.

Morgan’s favorite hobbies are reading, cooking, and traveling – though she would rather you didn’t mention that last one to her husband. She has too much fun teasing him about having become a “Traveling Fool” of late.

Morgan lives in Southwestern Ontario with a cat that has an attitude, a dog that has no dignity, and her husband of thirty-six years, David.

Jonathan Steele ~ The Dom of MY dreams!

I fell in love with Jonathan Steele! I loved the development of his D/s relationship with Beth. I was thoroughly enjoying their love story (would've given that 5 stars!)...right up until the menage with Peter. Don't get me wrong...Peter was a fantastic guy. I just felt cheated out of the love story between Jonathan and Beth when Peter became a permanent part of the relationship.

A review for The Romance Reviews.

What's better than a strong, virile man who is Dominant and loving? Try two men who fit that bill. Are you intrigued yet? Well, you should be because SHACKLED is a red-hot read with love, hot men, and mild BDSM. It is sensual and sweet and extremely erotic all at the same time.

Bethany is ready to start a new life. Widowed after being married to an verbally abusive and destructive man for 25 years, she's ready to explore the feelings that she suspects she's had her whole life. So when she asks, Jordan, the owner of the exclusive BDSM club Reckless Abandon, to find her a Master, she had no idea how drastically her life was about to change.

Jonathan has been in love with Bethany for a long time, so when Beth comes into Reckless Abandon, he knows that he's going to claim her. She's always had to be so in control, so he's going to have to work hard to get her to submit. Between him and his best friend, Peter, another Dom, he may just be able to do that. But after a night of the three of them together, they realize they all want it forever.

There were so many wonderful things about this book. Bethany is a fantastic heroine. She's 48, and she's been in a horrible marriage for 25 years. But through reading erotic romances, she finds that BDSM intrigues her (I love that!). She's always been in control of everything because she had to be, so she's not certain she can let go of it. Submitting to Jonathan awakens something in her, and watching her transform was amazing.

Then Jonathan...YUM. Sexy, Dominant and wildly in love with Beth. I love that the two of them have this history together, and it's one that had nothing to do with sex. Jonathan is 15 years younger than Beth. It's mentioned a couple of times in the book, but I like the way that it's handled. It's not this big Cougar/cub type thing. It's just the way it happens to be. Then there is Peter, Jonathan's best friend. He's brought in towards the end of the book, but when they come together...wow. The three of them are hot together.

There's a great story along with all this steamy sex. Beth is coming into her own after living with a man who stripped her of all self-worth. Jonathan's patience and understanding allows her to come out of her shell. The BDSM aspect of the book was light with some paddling, some bondage, and Dominance/submission, but it was nothing severe or heavy.

There was only one thing that kept me from giving the book a higher rating: the sub-plot involving one of Beth's family members. It wasn't very suspenseful, and I felt it detracted a bit from the great story that the author was telling. I felt as though it could have been developed a bit more and been great, but as it was, I didn't feel that it was needed in the story or added anything to it.

Otherwise, I felt that it was a fantastic read, with a great story of love and getting the life you want after years of dealing with the life you had. The HEA was loving and sweet and wrapped the story up nicely.

Let me note that this book is loosely tied to Reckless Abandon and Brazen Seduction as they center around the club Reckless Abandon. However, you do not need to read those other two stories to enjoy SHACKLED.

Lea’s Review:

Shackled, by Morgan Ashbury, is a very sexy book. Filled with steamy scenes from beginning to end, this is a book for those who enjoy reading sweet erotica. While the genre listing includes BDSM, and an initial premise of the book is that the two main characters link up through Bethany’s search to find a Master, the scenes in Shackled are restricted to light play in the BDSM realm. There is a spat of spanking as well as the use of some fun and interesting toys but, for the most part, the book is filled with tender and beautifully written scenes of love making.

I appreciate the clear language in this story demonstrating that there can be many devastating forms of abuse in a marriage, some leaving no marks on the physical body but causing deep and lasting psychological scars. That Jonathan and Peter acknowledge this by showing their intention to be patient and progress only with Bethany’s clear consent is quite touching. When, toward the end of the story, Bethany explains the differences in the two types of shackling that have occurred in her life, I was deeply moved.

I felt the purpose of the story was to tell the story of Bethany, Jonathan and Peter. Following Bethany’s progress toward becoming a self-assured person is another great story line. However, the chapters about Constance felt contrived, as though someone had suggested there needed to be additional angst in the story so a sub-plot with Connie and her boyfriend was added without being fully connected to the larger story of Bethany, Jonathan and Peter. It doesn’t ruin the story but it does distract from the overall feeling of the book.

I came across a word in reading Shackled that I haven’t read or used recently. That word is voluptuary, somebody whose life is devoted to enjoying luxury and the pleasures of the senses. Jonathon refers to Bethany as being a voluptuary as she begins to accept and enjoy all that he offers. If you, also, enjoy the pleasures of the senses, you are sure to want to read Shackled.

Rated 3 ½ Ravens by Lea!

Clare C's Review

Bethany certainly is a lucky woman. Six months after the death of her less-than-stellar husband, she finds herself in the arms of Jonathan, a man fifteen years younger who has worshipped her since he was a teen living next door to her. Jonathan is the Dom selected, at Bethany’s request, to initiate her into the life of a submissive. The love story is sweet and compelling. The introduction of Peter as a second Dom isn’t exactly necessary, as Jonathan really is all she needs, but it does lead to a couple of really hot erotic scenes.

Speaking of the erotic scenes, I think my eReader went up in flames several times. Wow—Ms. Ashbury certainly knows how to write the wicked hot stuff in a way that’s still emotional and sweet. The rest of the plot—the evil sister-in-law after Bethany’s inheritance—could disappear and the reader wouldn’t notice because the erotic scenes are the real star of this story. Shackled is about a woman whose shackles set her free from the bonds her life had become. It’s an incredible roller coaster that will have you back in line to ride it again the moment it’s over.

An older woman, Bethany now had her life back. Her kids were grown and away from home and her husband of 25 years had died six months earlier. Now she needed to deal with the cold, frozen, hurting center of her being and after some investigation of the BDSM lifestyle has gone to the owner of Reckless Abandon to request that he find her a Master. The man who agrees to train her, unbeknownst to Bethany, was 15 years her junior, used to be her next door neighbor, and has been in love with her for years. This is really a novel that probes the inner hurts of a woman whose husband was never physically abusive but who tore her down with disrespect, hurtful words, disdain, and complete disregard for her dreams, talents, and opinions. She has taken total responsibility for the welfare of her family and in spite of her husband's childish behavior and habits, has managed to raise two kids successfully, and now is wanting to finally live. Just a very good story and the BDSM content is extremely mild.

Great Story

I really liked this story. It was sweet, sexy, and hot. But the thing that bothered me was the lack of continuity. Beth is 48. Johnathan is younger than her and supposedly younger than her children. But Jonathan is 33, 15 years younger than Beth. Then we learn that Beth is keeping something for her children until they turn 30, which would make them younger than Jonathan. Since Beth was pregnant when she married and she was married for 25 years, that goes with her kids being younger than Jonathan.

Fast paced excitement

With a evil sister-in-law thrown in. I liked that the author didn't dwell on the negatives as that could have made me stop reading. Nice to see an over 40 woman starting over. I thought it was good that instead of insta love Beth already knew the men so a connection was already there. I'm ready to read the next one. Not to heavy and not to light. Just a lovely read with some hot sex.
