This is Book One of the Winning Odds Series. "Odds on Favorite," Book Two, released April 9, 2012.
Dawn never meant to hurt anyone. She never meant to live a lie; she never meant to fall in love. Sometimes things just happen.
As the mysteries and excitement of Thoroughbred racing unfold, so do the details of Dawn Fioritto's life and past. While covering a story for the local newspaper, Dawn becomes captivated by an enchanting old man and with life behind the scenes at Nottingham Downs. She returns under the guise of writing a novel. For two years, she comes and goes, employed as a groom in relative obscurity. No one knows who she is, or where she's been. She is an enigma, harmless and protected, in a racing world where one lives only for the moment, where yesterday is gone, and where there may be no tomorrow. Until the day, some starts asking questions....
Critically acclaimed author MaryAnn Myers has done it again! As with her previous page-turning novels, Call Me Lydia and Maple Dale, she will keep you spellbound well into the night. Give in to the magic, settle back in your favorite chair and enjoy.
This book was a welcome source of information about life at the track. The feeling of being there was so real. The characters were well developed and the story was captivating. if you love horse and the thrill of racing this book will not disappoint
The fabulous personalities at the racetrack are captured perfectly in this outstanding novel. Not to be missed. Part of my 2012 Equestrian Summer Reading List at Dappled Grey. See the entire list: http://www.dappledgrey.com/2012/06/eq...
Really keeps you going! Very authentic backside story. Goes a little heavy on the backside jargon as if rather trying to prove her knowledge of the backside and there are a few errors . The human story is almost unbelievable but still very worth reading.
Another racing book. No steaming sex in this book. Just a nice story line. Something different for a change of pace to what I've been reading. I did like it.
Well written. Perfect balance of horses and a splash of romance. The challenges the characters faced were vivid and emotional. I’m ready for book two..
Great understanding of horses and racing. Love the characters and can't wait to look them up again. The romance was a bit over the top but entertaining. Will be enjoying the next one.
What a disappointment. While the idea of a story that explores the inner workings of horse racing isn't a bad one, this just wasn't done well at all. Uninteresting and unlikeable characters, a boring plot... The unexplored race track characters in the background were the best part, which isn't saying much. Far better to re-read a Dick Francis novel than to spend time on this.
Favored to Win is a great book. Very well written. All the horse details are correct, which is such a relief to me. Just the right amount of romance. I can't wait to read the rest of the Series.
