I wasn't really certain how to rate this because I was initially disappointed. It was not at all like Ninety Minutes in Heaven. It had lots of good illustrations and was well written. However, it felt like a very weighty Bible study/text book. It was worth the read, in the end, because it was very helpful in my Christian walk. There were many ideas and Bible verses that I used and will employ in my devotions. Heaven is a place I want to be! But not for a few years yet.

This book is a very well-written, inspiring account of ways we can find greater happiness in this life and prepare for the life that is to come. Although I do not agree with all of the author's theological assumptions, I felt that the book contained many stories, anecdotes, and scriptural accounts that can inspire and comfort any reader.

AMAZING! I absolutely loved this book! This is the book I’ve been searching for- I’ve always wanted to know what it took to get to Heaven and in the process have a close, strong relationship with Christ. Don Piper laid it out beautifully through analyzing the Gospel of John (the last moments the Lord shared with his disciples before he was betrayed by Judas and arrested.)

I initially thought this book would be redundant, having read Piper's two previous books. It wasn't though. The book is practical, graceful, and a realistic plan for living a godly life. It isn't a bunch of formulaic tricks and tips, but a true narrative broken into 29 chapters of what it means to be a Christian. We need to make Christ our whole lives. We live by grace, and that grace - if we seek it daily and sincerely - will eventually transform us into the obeying person Christ is calling us to be. Because Christ is in us, if we remain in Him, we can do anything He'd do. What it takes is true trust in Him - constantly searching ourselves and comparing ourselves with Christ so we can match Him. Knowing He'll be with us no matter what we choose. We will want to choose Him, and for His sake! This inspired me to check out books about Christ's life so I can learn about him from every angle I can.

Practical. Each chapter has "departing instructions at the end". Key summaries and thing to put into action.

p186 - with regards to an appropriate punishment for his 9 year old son who was playing in a dangerous ditch...

I had to punish him because I love him. If I hadn't punished my son, the message he received would be that I was INDIFFERENT to his actions or that I didn't care.

This is a great book. I suggest that if you are going to read it, buy it. It has a lot of great information to reference back to and the end of chapter instructions are an excellent tool to life.
