Blood. Sex. Elizabeth.

'He looked as if he knew everything...and cared for nothing...'

Blood Eternal, the final in Marie Treanor's Awakened By Blood series, may well be my favorite of the three. Treanor first introduced us to her wonderful heroine, Elizabeth Silk, in her novel, Blood On Silk. It was within those pages that we had our first taste of the sexiest vampire overlord this Broad has ever encountered - the last of the ancients, Saloman. Treanor maintained danger, suspense, and questions throughout that novel, continued brilliantly in the second, Blood Sin, and now culminates in Blood Eternal - crafting an ending of epic proportions.

The author added a healthy twinge of fear for our hero and heroine while staying true to that Mad, Bad, & Dangerous To Know character of whom I've grown so fond. I fell in love with Saloman for a number of reasons. At last, someone wrote a cool headed, confident vampire who knew with absolute certainty that he would achieve what he set out to do. (Avoiding the spoiler is so, so, very difficult as I write this review...) Saloman never wavered. Never doubted. Was never caught off guard.

Elizabeth Silk is one of my favorite heroines in romance as well, leaving foolhardy trauma-drama in the dust in favor of a mature, intelligent woman's perspective as she confronts inexplicable events, supernatural beings, and falls into passionate, life-altering love with a powerful vampire. In short, Dr. Silk is a Brazen Broad. Treanor writes great depth of character in showing us her hopes, her fears, her wants, and her disappointments, enabling readers from various walks of life opportunities to connect with this character on a personal level.

Blood Eternal is the final act in Treanor's vision of colliding worlds. Saloman is consolidating power virtually unopposed until our dear Senator awakens Luk, a maddened ancient - and Saloman's creator. He is also the originator of the prophecy, which is woven throughout the series and dictates to a certain extent the maneuverings and orchestrations of all the players. Saloman, Luk and Senator Dante, and the Hunters all strive to understand the role Elizabeth Silk is to play - ushering in the new vampire age or preventing it, none knowing for certain whether to encourage her onward or stop her from making a mistake that will end in catastrophic consequences.

Once again, Treanor delivers heart pounding passion between her vampire overlord and her bad-ass historian, delving into the romance more in Blood Eternal than in the first two novels in the series. Lover, supporter, protector, or companion - Saloman encompasses it all, patiently awaiting Elizabeth's final surrender to her heart - and to his greatest desire.

Marie Treanor wows with Blood Eternal, earning a top pick recommendation from this Broad. My only complaint -seriously, my only - is that the series is ended.

Overall story - 5/5 stars

Plot - 5/5 stars

Saloman - 5/5 stars

Elizabeth - 5/5 stars

World building - 5/5 stars

Supporting Characters 5/5 stars

Romance heat - 5/5 stars

Third and final installment in the Awakened by Blood series, Blood Eternal is the epic conclusion of Saloman and Elizabeth story.

We’ve seen them meet, fall in love and fall apart and now they’ll have to decide if they’re ready to build a life together or go their separate ways.

Saloman has brought the vampires together but there are still those who won’t follow his rules. His relationship with Elizabeth is still uncertain and the Hunters are still determined to bring him down.

If this wasn’t complicated enough, a presence from the past threatens to destroy them and everything around them so the powerful vampire, his reluctant lover and the determined Hunters will have to learn to work together or they won’t stand a chance.

When all is said and done, their lives will have changed forever and the biggest challenge has yet to be faced by Elizabeth who’s role in the story is much more important than they could have imagined.

I loved this series. It has become one of my favorites really fast and ever since I’m pestering Marie to write more about Saloman and Elizabeth.

I think it has what it takes to satisfy everyone- there’s action, mystery, the dark and dangerous hero who, in some ways, is not a hero at all but he has a way of getting under your skin until it’s impossible to get him out. Then, there’s the intelligent, determined heroine who will not be swayed by her feelings and who is strong enough to make the right decision even when her soul is in pieces.

I don’t exactly remember how and where I found this series but I am so, so glad I’ve decided to give it try and I highly recommend it. It’s definitely a must read.

Simply brilliant.

P.S.- I call dibs on Saloman, though *wink*

Happy Reading!!

Saloman decide tomar acciones menos agresivas y luk volverá a descansar.

What kind of idiot changes the format and design of the third book in a trilogy?

Blood on Silk and Blood Sin, the first two books of Marie Treanor's Awakened by Blood trilogy, were published in trade size with stunning artwork on smooth silky paper, a delight to handle and behold.

When I opened the parcel containing my copy of Blood Eternal I was stunned to find a mass-marketing edition with a dreadful generic cover that could have been used for almost any romance novel. Lined up on my bookshelf, the three books look as if they don't belong together. The sight of them will irritate me every time I look at them.

I wasn't keeping track of the time, but Blood Eternal seemed to come a long time after Blood Sin -- long enough for me to forget much of the story and many of the characters. Maybe that's why the first few pages seemed to lack sparkle and originality. However, once Ms Treanor's story-telling skills began to cast their spell I was hooked yet again and finished the book in one sitting.

The final confrontation of mortal enemies, the solution to the cryptic prophecy, and the resolution of a host of loose ends provide a fitting closure to the trilogy, while leaving sufficient hooks for a future spin-off.

A fitting and satisfying end to a deliciously original vampire romance trilogy. Magnificent!

In the midst of Saloman's tumultuous, forbidden romance with the wickedly smart and vulnerably human Elizabeth Silk, there is one thing on the powerful Ancient's mind: to see the world change, to see the vampires be brought out to the open and live in the human world. His strategy is carefully calculated and involves the gradual education of humans in order to achieve tolerance and cooperation, but his Ancient cousin, Luk's unexpected awakening, may veer him off his path.

I absolutely devoured this third and final installment of Marie Treanor's Awakened by Blood series... I am definitely pining for more, and am distressed by the fact that there IS no more. I would recommend readers of the first two books to pick this one up, just because Blood Eternal picks off and concludes where Blood Sin left off.

Recent vampire revolts risk Elizabeth and Saloman losing each other, which makes Saloman all the more determined to maintain order within the dynamic of vampires slowly cohabiting with humans in the real world. In the end, however, his mission uncovers one startling, anticipated truth: that as much as both he and Elizabeth want and need eternal love, she is thoroughly human, and it is her humanity that makes her so valuable to both him and to the world. She indeed, is his weakness; her loving, frail humanity, compassion, intelligence, wit, vulnerability, sweetness, bravery, and overthought are what make him falter. She is simultaneously his strength, his stamina, his moral guidance; he needs her to survive. As much as he wants to love her forever, he knows she belongs in the light, and he, in the shadows. Through her and through opening up to her, he painfully learns and relearns both his identity and the sheer, melancholy truism that in love, nothing can ever, ever be perfect.

The emotional anguish and unfeasibility of the romance is so well-conveyed. Blood Eternal tugged at my heartstrings and left me aching inside. Elizabeth is Saloman's lifeline, but when the deranged and furious Luk realizes she is also his demise, he'll do anything to fulfill his early prophecies and use her as the missing piece to Saloman's complete destruction. It's possible their love may be strong enough to change Luk's predictions and in turn, change Luk's insanity itself, but it's also possible their love could ultimately lead to the sacrifice of one of them... or both of them, in time.

The entire novel surrounds the internal battle for Elizabeth's trust, from both the perspectives of Saloman and the single-minded vampire hunters who lover her as much as he does. Saloman's adverse effects surface clearly, not only to Elizabeth's friends, but also to Elizabeth herself; it is obvious that he is whittling away her human life—she has no sense of normal anymore—which is causing her to lose her principles. It's interesting how Treanor adds Elizabeth's confusion with her identity in this last novel, because readers previously thought she had such a good grip on it before. The importance of loving herself first—the self that Saloman fell in love with and the self that could temper his inhumanity and make his domination more like cooperation—is brought to light. She is not the only one who needs her humanity—the world needs it too. If she lost who she was, there would be more lives at risk than she could ever imagine.

One of my favorite aspects of Blood Eternal was the slow, painful unraveling of Saloman—what made him a vampire, and what made the weaknesses he has today. Luk's mentally insane and dangerous resurrection reveals another one of Saloman's vulnerabilities; his agonizing past is explored and his weaknesses tested. I loved how he was finally able to bare himself to Elizabeth, as well as bare a part of her she never knew existed. The unearthing of secrets and deep desires makes it difficult to distinguish the vampire and human races by much. Saloman's compassion is heart-wrenching; that a being so evil could feel emotions so loving, is tragic, and is what makes him so damn perfect for Elizabeth. I'm devastated there's no more of Saloman to read about—am experiencing severe Saloman withdrawal symptoms. Bloody fictional characters!

The return of old vampires we've grown to love and new one's we'll come to hate ushers a violent, willful ultimate battle will determine their fate... that is, if they make it out alive. Victory in the raging vampire war will spark a new millenium of Ancients for the greater good of both humans and vampires, while defeat will end the world as they know it.

Pros:
More thrilling romantically, action-wise, and emotionally // Mystery shrouding Saloman is finally cleared // Entire cast of vampires and hunters alike unite // Witty, deliberate writing style // Saloman and Elizabeth are both perfectly lovable // Fast-paced and action-packed // Sizzling, sensual, as always // The impossibility of a vampire-human relationship is heartbreaking // Quirky, amusing dialogue // Ending that leaves me wanting more!!!!

Cons:
Drags on at times // Glamorization of vampires gets out of hand: medical prowess? Spell-casting? Protectional powers? Foresight of natural disasters?? I found it to be way too much.

Love:
"We walk a bit of a tightrope, you and I," [Elizabeth] whispered. "I overbalance and overcompensate..."

"But you don't, fall." Never fall...

The stake [Elizabeth] always carried lay on the bedside table. "What's this?" Saloman had said, apparently amused. "In case I get too rough?"

"In case you stop."

Verdict:
Gripping, full of blood and kickassery and action, and emotionally doleful, Blood Eternal is a thrilling continuation of Elizabeth and Saloman's struggle to stay in the light together... even at the risk of losing themselves completely within their love. The tradeoff in their relationship—her impairment of his judgment that renders him sensitive and his disarming of her grounded values—accurately portray the pain of their love that is impossible to either bear or to forsake. He could die with her, ending his existence and all the good he could do for the world, or she could die for him, and go on forever; either way, one of them will lose what they most need. Somehow though, readers will maintain hope that their decision will, in the end, be for the better—whether Elizabeth and Saloman stay together, or not. Blood Sin is a riveting, satisfying, and completely addicting conclusion to a beloved vampire tale that will stay in readers' hearts for a long time to come

Rating: 8 out of 10 hearts (4 stars): An engaging read; highly recommended.

Blood Eternal
(Awakened by Blood, Book #3)
by Marie Treanor

Genre: Paranormal Romance | Fantasy | Historic

Secrets don't disappear after seduction ... Elizabeth Silk is struggling to reconcile her passion for the vampire overlord Saloman and her allegiance to the vampire hunters. When a shocking vampire revolt calls Saloman away from her, she refuses to follow him. To make matters worse, Saloman's beloved cousin Luk has been found and awakened by one of his greatest enemies. Frenzied with blood-lust, Luk embarks on a killing spree and prepares to expose Saloman's biggest vulnerability: Elizabeth. But under Saloman's regime, vampires have become less concerned with secrecy, no longer will to hid their power. Rumors are swirling about attacked on humans. After Saloman joins forces with the vampire hunters to consolidate his power, Elizabeth begins to understand her role in the inevitable collision of the two worlds. She could bring resolution between vampires and humans -- if she can manage to say alive long enough to play both sides...

Eye-opening revelations about Saloman becomes unearthed when video of him saving a village from an earthquake goes viral online. Now, Elizabeth must fave some unlikely truths about him while deciding her future allegiances to the under-ground Hunter society and her university teaching obligations after gaining her PhD. however, when a former enemy creates and even more sinister chaos for the vampire civilization by unexpectedly awakening an ancient older than Saloman, all hell is let loose and Elizabeth struggles to get both long-standing enemies (i.e. hunters and vampires) to work together in taking down this powerful creature before he can create his fatal empire. As bittersweet as it is to release/destroy his vampire cousin (again!) from insanity, Saloman must also face some emotional truths about Elizabeth, such as where their future together lies and if there is any room in his heart for true love after his turbulent history. Thus, can Saloman and Elizabeth compromise with their feelings/goals for a better future or will someone from their past finally succeed in destroying them both?

This was a satisfying conclusion (with an ending twist that was surprising and/or some-what inane!?!) to the Awakened by Blood series (trilogy?) Both Saloman and Elizabeth dug deep into their emotions throughout much of this story and were very open about their desires/dreams with each other and that left the reader on the edge in regards to just where their future relationship together would lead. For me, it felt like this book became a lot more serious about exclusively concentrating on Saloman and Elizabeth, which was refreshing since the last two books in the series really had them circling each other with no finial ending to their on-again/off-again liaison. We still get a lot of side-character interactions going on and different POVs thrown in, especially with the new baddie, Luk, being brought into the story. Expect impressive battle scenes, poignant surprises, and lots of witty telepathic conversations, but overall, expect an enjoyable read that leaves an opening for Saloman and Elizabeth's future story to pop-up within Marie Reanor's NEW Blood Hunter's series - Book # 1, Blood Guilt, coming early June 2012.

Likes: No matter how much she was persuaded, Elizabeth never gave up on both the Hunters and Saloman. Since she fought for/with both till the very end, she remained an unwaveringly faithful protagonist that was easy to like and cheer for, as a reader.

Dislikes: The relationship between Luk and Saloman feel somewhat flat. I was hoping/expecting a more detailed/elaborated back-story or, at least, a more thorough up-to-date tale about their current connection in the modern work which would have made their bond (and eventual fate) even more sorrowful and unfortunate.

Blood Eternal by Marie Treanor
Paranormal Romance -Oct. 4th, 2011
4 stars

Blood Eternal is the third and last book in the ‘Awakened by Blood’ trilogy. The whole series follow the romantic relationship between Elizabeth Silk, an academic/graduate student, who accidentally awakened the greatest vampire ever known to mankind, Saloman. (Due to its complexity, this is not a recommended stand-alone read; it is best if you start at the very first book and work your way to the last one.)

Elizabeth Silk has finally reached some sort of tenuous balance in her life - she has admitted completely to herself and to others that she is irrevocably in love with Saloman irregardless of whether he feels the same way. Happily, Saloman is making the effort to keep Elizabeth in his life even though they may spent time far apart. When Elizabeth receives word from the vampire hunters that Saloman’s cousin, Luk, was awakened by Dante, the ambitious US senator who craves power and dominion over all, she flies immediately to Turkey, not knowing the danger she’s in. As he slowly recovers his memory, Luk is half-mad and had been treated by Dante as a pet. Now Luk wants to exact revenge against Saloman, the vampire who killed him. When Luk discovers Elizabeth and her importance to Saloman, he shifts his focus to her. Can Saloman protect Elizabeth?

There’s a lot going on in this book. First you have the demented Dante and insane Luke running amok. Secondly you have Saloman and Elizabeth’s fragile relationship, thirdly Saloman is trying to convince the hunters to change their mindset and let vampires and humans co-exist peacefully, fourthly Elizabeth has a mysterious illness, and lastly, there’s another group of humans who are forming another vampire hunter club. All in all, this is a very packed story. With so much going on, the plot, with its multiple branches and subplots, does feel a bit rushed and chaotic.

The reason why I enjoyed the first book so much was the amount of focus the author placed on Saloman and Elizabeth’s romance. By the third book, I feel like the story has gotten out of the author’s control. There’s simply too much, which weighs down the pace of the story. I don’t mind reading about Luk, but Dante, despite being the main villain in the second book, didn’t appear much in the third book. There was so much going on I thought it was overkill. There were simply not enough room in the book for them, and I wished that the author had expanded the story or had another book or two in the series.

I wished more pages were devoted to Elizabeth and Saloman. I’m really glad that Saloman finally moved past the mindset that sex with Elizabeth is just sex. It’s nice to see him reciprocate some feelings back. To me, the first half of the book is the closest the two of them can get to a ‘real’ relationship between a vampire and a human. Overall, I felt the twists and storyline were a bit too pat and eventually...unsatisfying and bloodless. Towards the end, I keep having a sneaky suspicion that Treanor got too attached to her characters and just wanted a nice, easy happily-ever-after for them.

Blood Eternal is a decent conclusion to the trilogy, and I am happy about Saloman’s emotional growth in the last book, but I feel that it lack a certain ‘oomph’ that made the first book an amazing roller coaster ride.

Elizabeth has her Ph.D, her teaching position at St. Andrews University is about to end, and she's sitting on a job offer from a university in Budapest wondering if she should take it. She'd be closer to Saloman, but she's not sure he wants her there or if she'd appear to clingy. On the other hand, she'd be closer to her hunter friends and could continue doing some odd jobs for them.

One of her odd jobs takes her to an Army hospital where she visits an injured soldier who tells her a story of vampires drinking is blood after being injured in an explosion and then being rescued by a dark angel. The man sounds hauntingly like Saloman, which has Elizabeth wondering what he's up to. Next, she sees video of him telling Peruvian villagers to leave a day or two prior to a devastating earthquake. She realizes he's helping people, not trying to control them as she originally thought. Desperate to get to him, she's about ready to book the next flight to Peru when she gets word from the hunters that the Ancient Luc, has been reawakened and she's needed in Turkey. She knows what this news will do to Saloman, so she vows that she will be the one to put Luc back into his grave to save Saloman that pain.

Saloman feels when Luc is awakened and makes his way to Turkey. He discovers that Dante's had a hand in awakened Luc and is now teaming up with some very reluctant hunters to try and capture both Luc and Dante before things go really bad. But things go from bad to worse when Luc and Dante stir up the vampire community in a revolt against Saloman and his new ways. It's now up to Saloman, Elizabeth and the hunters to stop Luc before more blood is spilled.

This book will make you love Saloman. I was kind of on the fence with him, because he was such an arrogant ass most of the time. It always seemed like he was using Elizabeth for sex and/or blood, then discarded her afterwards. Sure, in Blood Sin, he did get a little better towards the end, but he was still all about him and not so much about Elizabeth unless she was right in front of him. He's different in this book. He's always thinking about Elizabeth, even when she thinks he isn't. We discover he's learned to close himself off from everyone since he was a young boy, because his father would use your secrets to punish you. To Saloman, if no one knows what you love they can't use it against you. But he's learning that closing himself off from Elizabeth is hurting her more than he ever realized and he changes...for her.

Elizabeth finally starts seeing that she has been a bit of a doormat to Saloman and starts to stand her ground with him, a little. She knows that she can never stay mad at him if she's right in front of him, but she does start walking away and giving them both time to reflect on whatever action Saloman has done to set her off. She learns that if she asks the questions or tells Saloman how she feels, things work out much better (for example: telling him about her job offer and finding out he's excited).

I wasn't in love with the ending to this. I was confused about what happened with Elizabeth when her new powers came into play (as I don't remember them being mentioned much before) and how that managed to stop all the bad vampires in their tracks. But I was ok with that, since for me the story was really about Saloman and Elizabeth resolving their differences to be together.

My thoughts:
Now, to be asked to review an entire series, at least the first time, is a little daunting. The publisher was aces about sending the books out ASAP. (Side note: I definitely dug holding a book again! However, my Nook has been glaring at me for weeks...I am torn between two lovers.) All I could think was "What if it's crap and I have to wear waders through all three books??" *coughTheGirlWithTheDragonTattoocough* Look, that book scarred me and I haven't let it go yet.

But no worries, doves! This series is definitely one to add to the top of your TBR pile. Yes, its Paranormal Romance, but the writing and the characters are amazing and different - No fluff and nonsense for Miz Treanor! The world she's created is organized and anchored, her primary and secondary characters are heavy hitters, and nothing takes a predictable turn.
You need to read these books. End of discussion. The only complaint I have is that the trilogy is over.

On the Characters:

I heart strong characters! Especially when they don't do/say the predictable, mind-numbingly boring things you've read a thousand and one times. In the Awakened By Blood series you get both those aspects in spades. And its been far to long since I read a female character that doesn't simper or becoming simpering weenie when the big strong man enters the room. GO ELIZABETH!!! She's academic without being nerdy or a pushover, has a career path she chooses to follow even after vampires upend her life, and wants to be with Saloman because she appreciates and loves him.

Saloman himself is quite unique. While he's serious and focused, he also lives life in the moment, always has time for a little fun and frolic (and by frolic, y'all should know by now I mean the love scenes, are hot hot hot!) He also respects and encourages Elizabeth's strength and individuality. He's sexy and enigmatic with his own, albeit a bit twisted, moral code - An anti-hero if you like.

As far as their relationship/romance goes, its all angsty and sexy without being predictable and it is also anticpatory - the author doesn't give it to you all up front. Saloman and Elizabeth ultimately have to move past their own preconceived notions about themselves & the world around them to move forward in their relationship and I found that both fascinating and truthful.

Even the secondary characters of the hunters (Maeliah, Konrad, etc) and the vampires (Dimuitri and Maxmillian) are unique, eye-catching, and interesting.

On the Plot:
A new take on vampires as a race descended from a mysterious clan called the Ancients. Friendships and loyalties are tested. Vampire politics. The writing is perfectly paced, smooth and one hulleva ride. There's a lot going on in this series - Insane vampires and power hungry senators running amok, Saloman and Elizabeth's tenuous and fragile relationship, and Saloman's plan for a benevolent world domination with co-existence of vampires and humans at its forefront. Hunters and rogue hunters.Elizabeth's mysterious illness, prophecies...

My Thoughts

This 3rd and final installment of the Awakened by Blood trilogy continues with Dante’s quest for power. After Elizabeth convinces Saloman to spare Dante’s life in the previous Blood Sin, the decision haunts them. Dante is alive and still hell bent on becoming a vampire in order to achieve the power he craves with a new plan.

Dante awakens Luk - Saloman’s maker, cousin and friend - who Saloman was forced to kill 300 years ago after his fall into insanity. Luk is unhappy and confused about being awakened, however he leads a revolt against Saloman’s plans for peace between vampires & humans at Dante’s persuasion.

Suspenseful to the end, Ms. Treanor created an intriguing story line that kept us wondering how this story would end:
• Would Elizabeth become a vampire to live an eternity with Saloman,
• Would the hunters face reality and accept the necessity of change,
• Which side would each character choose and
• What did the ambiguous prophecy mean?

For me, the key attribute of a successful Paranormal Romance is chemistry between the hero and heroine. Saloman and Elizabeth are magic! Their attraction is enthralling, captivating and they set the pages on fire!! Brilliantly, Ms. Treanor refuses to always give us what we want and teases us just enough so that the anticipation mounts to fiery levels. However, know that these lovers never disappoint and you will definitely find yourself basking in the afterglow of their romance.

Character development in this series is exceptional. We see Elizabeth discover amazing inner strength within her as she grows into a strong, tough kick-ass heroine. It didn’t happen overnight. She worked hard at it; thus making it more believable. Saloman learns that to make Elizabeth happy, he has to become accommodating to a modern female without sacrificing his powerful and formidable self. Saloman is absolutely intoxicating! The ultimate bad boy hero we love and fear at the same time while capturing our hearts and stirring our souls!

The secondary characters are well developed also as we see Mihaela’s compassion and secret desires for family, Max’s issues with guilt and regret, the extent of Dmitriu’s love for his maker, Cyn and Rudy’s dedication to their cause and John’s struggles with the strange world of vampires he’s found himself in and finding what role there is for him.

My Final View

This is a series that should be moved up high on your TBR list. It’s compelling, suspenseful, smart, well written with great character development.

This series is one that has plenty of potential for spin-offs or continuation that would complement the story world that Ms. Treanor has created.
• The role of this new group of vampire hunters,
• Max’s & Dmitriu’s & Luk’s story,
• The happenings in North America under Travis’ rule,
If there is a continuation, it will most certainly be added to my library!!

Happy reading!

I have to say, the more I blog the more surprised I seem to get with each book I read. I really lived a very sheltered life within my world of books, I usually didn't go outside of my favorite authors and was quite happy to stay there, and then one day I finished the book I was reading and went to my shelf to get another and low and behold every obsessed readers nightmare.........my shelf was empty lol. I didn't have anymore books to read. So I said to myself "Away to the Internet to see if one of my favorite authors has released anything new for me to buy". So off I go to the Sony ebook store and found some good books and happened to look at one of the reviews, which took me to the Goodreads website, which got me talking to some bloggers which brought me to having my own blog, which totally got me reading way outside of anything I usually read.

I have to say I have never been so happy. I would not have had the absolute privilege of a lot of very amazing authors. So here I am blogging as part of a book tour for Bewitching Book Tours and again I have found another amazing series that I am proud to recommend. So now that I have babbled on about my journey to this point lol (sorry lol) I will share my thoughts on this wonderful series.

Since I have read all three books, I am going to review as a whole set instead of individually :)
So to start with, we have two main characters which absolutely drew me right into their story, you can the pull and attraction they are fighting, especially since they are meant to kill each other. Marie does an incredible job at making you FEEL the attraction they have for each other. In the second book you see Saloman and him being so stubborn in not sharing his feelings for Elizabeth, and she keeps denying him, but also her loyalty of her feeling for Saloman, and so it carries on to the third book as Elizabeth gets somewhat obsessed with Saloman. It truly is a great love story you wont want to miss out on.

All three books are superbly well written, I was hooked from book one and couldn't turn the pages fast enough to get to book two, well if I wasn't hooked from the first book I was with the second and on to book three I went, I love Marie's writing style, it just flows so smoothly, she takes you right into their worlds with such description I almost felt like I was right there. The whole story is such a refreshing new story line and so exciting from page one to the end and into the next book and then the third, my advice is to make sure you have all three books when you start reading or you will find your self at the book store minutes before it closes to get the next one.

Now if I say anymore I will be giving away and spoil the story for you all and we all know how much I hate doing that to anyone, so I will be finished now and just say, go to the store now or online and order your set of this amazing series, I cannot wait for the next book. Enjoy everyone, I know I did.

Blood Eternal is the third installment in the Awakened By Blood series by Marie Treanor and a Paranormal Romance from Signet Eclipse.

Book Blurb:

Everything comes to light someday...

Elizabeth Silk is struggling to reconcile her passion for the vampire overlord Saloman and her allegiance to the vampire hunters. When a shocking vampire revolt calls Saloman away from her, she refuses to follow him.

To make matters worse, Saloman’s beloved cousin Luk has been found and awakened by one of his greatest enemies. Frenzied with bloodlust, Luk embarks on a killing spree and prepares to expose Saloman’s biggest vulnerability: Elizabeth.

But under Saloman’s regime, vampires have become less concerned with secrecy, no longer willing to hide their power. Rumors are swirling about attacks on humans. After Saloman joins forces with the vampire hunters to consolidate his power, Elizabeth begins to understand her role in the inevitable collision of the two worlds. She could bring resolution between vampires and humans - if she can manage to stay alive long enough to play both sides...

My thoughts:

Elizabeth Silk is a descendant of Tsigana, who hundreds of years ago helped stake the vampire Saloman. The fact that Saloman loved Tsigana - and now feels much the same for Elizabeth - is a bit ironic.

Elizabeth has joined the vampire hunters because she feels that it is her duty to help hunt down and eliminate the rogue vampires that see humans as prey.

This has caused her to have conflicting feelings - because she is in love with Saloman - and he is the oldest living vampire in the world.

Now Saloman’s cousin Luk has been awakened and he is not a happy camper. When alive, Luk was jealous of Saloman - and his years of ‘sleep’ have not changed those feelings.

The vampire hunters have unearthed a prophecy that originated with Luk - and they think that the prophecy is talking about Elizabeth. If they’ve interpreted correctly - Elizabeth may die or be turned vampire.
When the battle between vampire and hunters takes place - they all witness the fulfillment of that prophecy.

And Elizabeth is forever changed.

Blood Eternal is my favorite book in this series so far.

I give Blood Eternal 4 out of 5 stars.

This is another intriguing installment in the Awakened by Blood series and with it being the final release there's a lot going on to reach the conclusion. The storyline is full of political issues amongst the vampires, a new and very dangerous vampire being unleashed, and the recurring battle between hunters and vampires. As if all these battles weren't enough, there's the continuing relationship between Elizabeth Silk and her vampire lover Salomon which is still going through some rough times.

With so much going on and with the evolving romance, this is a series that should definitely be read in order. This isn't a stand-alone book, at least in my opinion. Things that happened in previous books have an influence on what happens in this one and this previous knowledge will make for a better reading experience. There were times I felt a bit overwhelmed by the different storylines and felt that there was a rush to reach the end. The author was very ambitious in what she had planned and the overwhelming storyline reflected that.

The relationship between Elizabeth and Salomon is still going through some hard times. Elizabeth very much loves Salomon and feels guilty for being with a vampire against the hunter's beliefs. Salomon has always been a bit distant but does show more emotion for her in this book. There were times I got exasperated by Salomon's outdated words and actions in relation to his feelings for Elizabeth but there's still something about him that draws you to him. I could understand Elizabeth's attraction even while pulling my hair out over his antiquated attitude.

Between the action and romance I found this to be a satisfying story and an entertaining series as a whole. It's said to be the last, but I see a few things that could easily be expanded upon to allow a return to this world. With its unique characters and intriguing vampire politics this is a story that those who enjoy the paranormal will be drawn to.

The previous two books in the Awakened by Blood trilogy has all been leading to this and this ("Blood Eternal") is apocalytic. Elizabeth is finishing up her last months at the University and contemplating her future. She must move on and to where? She has applied for a one year position as a guest lecturer in Bedapest; but, she is concern that living on Saloman's home turf might make her seem clingy and needy.

Meanwhile, Saloman is off in Peru evacuating a tribe from a massive earthquake. He is successful in saving all of the villagers; however, he is suddenly in pain as he realizes his cousin, Luk who once killed him has been awakened by none other that Senator Grayson Dante. Dante finally gets his wish and is turned into a vampire by none other than Luk. Together Luk and Dante go on a massive killing spree that has everyone standing up to take notice. Luk like Saloman has delusions of grandeur and of ruling the world. Who should win, the devil you know or the one you don't?

Everyone is at risk, the vampire world as well as the humans. The hunters will realize that they too have become complacent in their rules and regulations and these are the things that might cause their deaths in the end. In the midst of all of this turmoil, Elizabeth and Saloman's love continues to grow and they both realize a human life time may not be enough for them.

I just loved this series and especially the ending to this book (I will not reveal it to you). However, I will say that I believe Marie Treanor should consider a spin-off series featuring the surprise character she introduces at the end of this book. It would be totally awesomesauce! Do not hesitate, pick up this series, this book and enjoy the wild ride that follows.

This is a great book. Its a worthy conclusion to the trilogy. I can only hope we get to meet these characters again soon. I have been hooked since I read the first book. They are well-written and fast paced with great characters that you really get to know and enjoy.

Elizabeth and Saloman have an unusual relationship. Both have the power to really hurt or kill the other, even know Elizabeth is human. By this point we have watched their relationship evolve over the course of the first 2 books. But even here neither really feels like they deserve the other or can keep them for as long as they have together. And this combined with the fact that Elizabeth's hunter friends dont trust him not to hurt her are the background story revolving around the bigger story of the vampire war and Saloman's cousin Luk.

This war could really be the turning point both Saloman and Elizabeth are hoping for in the ongoing relationship between vampires and humans. Saloman wants to initiate change in vampire behavior so that the two can learn to live together and help each other. And he spends a lot of time trying to prove how this could happen. But he is up against his cousin, Luk, and a group of vampires that dont want to change. If the hunters can not learn to work with him to get this matter under control, what chance does the rest of the world who is still in the dark have.

Both stories intertwine themselves perfectly throughout the book. Leading to stunning conclusion and hope for all. I am really looking forward to reading more from the author soon and I am extremely glad I started this series.

Blood Eternal
4 Stars

Synopsis
The discord between the vampire factions continues with the awakening of Saloman's cousin Luk. While he may be the only one capable of stopping Saloman from consolidating his power over the human and vampire communities, his destructive plans may be even worse and Elizabeth and the other hunters must decide whether to trust Saloman and join forces to stop Luk and his minions.

Review
A mostly satisfying conclusion to the series although something feels a tad off.

Treanor's writing is as immersing as ever and the various plot threads come together cohesively. Nevertheless, the pacing is slow at times and the prophecy theme underdeveloped and less integrated than it could have been. The twist at the end is an unexpected yet pleasant surprise.

Saloman and Elizabeth's romance is as steamy and captivating as ever. She is still conflicted about her love for Saloman and her loyalty to the hunters but ultimately makes the necessary choices. Saloman is still one sexy vampire but must come to terms with his past if he is to have a future. Unfortunately, the elusive mystique that characterized him in books 1 and 2 seems to have mellowed.

The secondary characters continue to play central roles and there is now a spin-off series in which some of them feature prominently. In terms of the villains, Luk is not as menacing as he could have been and Dante goes from slick and smarmy politico to demented sidekick. Neither pose a significant threat, which diminishes the tension.

Overall, a good addition and I look forward to the spin-off.

For me, this was the best in the series. I waned a little reading Book 2, when it was all in NY, but not with this one.

It was beautiful from beginning to end. Saloman and Elizabeth's relationship was solid and more special than ever. I absolutely hate these soppy romance girls who fight their attraction to the Big Bad guy in the book, vampire or not, and then suddenly give in in the end. I think Elizabeth's journey, of learning about him, accepting and then shying away is much more realistic. Yes, she does the soppy romantic girl party by fighting the attraction in the beginning, when there is distance and separation and vampires are still a myth in her head. She's an academic, that's expected.

And in this book, I really liked Luk. Yes, he was crazy but you could also sense a conflict in him somewhere which was interesting. And I really like that Saloman wasn't just the Big Bad, but that he had heart and soul and was complex.

One bad point - I think it ended too abruptly. Either that or I need to stop staying up until 3am reading. I think it might have been nice to have a little Epilogue or something. I know there's a trilogy about the Hunters as well, but unless they contain Saloman and Elizabeth I won't be reading them. Mihaela and Konrad really, seriously, bugged the heck out of me in this book more than ever.

Needless to say I almost cried a few times, not telling you where or why. I did, however, see the ending coming though. I saw the thing with Luk and the 'condition' that was making Elizabeth ill and the other thing. It's not a flaw in the story or the way it was put together, just more that the ending was what I would have written. It was perfect.

This was such an interesting character driven book and I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to meet Elizabeth Silk and Saloman. I hadn't read the other books in the series (yet) so at first I didn't quite understand the depth of their feelings and I thought their relationship strange. My initial impression of Saloman was that he was a rude, brutish vampire, but that falls away as you continue to read the book. His behavior is fitting for one so old, ancient really, and he struggles with the concept of love just like the rest of us. By the end of this book I was smitten with him myself.

Elizabeth is a complex woman that is constantly put in the middle of two worlds- hunters vs. vampires- with one vampire in particular causing her to question herself and her role in the grand scheme. She never easily fits in one place and no decision is black and white, but varying shades of gray, only her choices effect those closest to her. She is a valuable resource to both sides, whether they know it or not, because she can see past the stereotypes and acts based on what really is, not what's perceived to be. Her entire life is complicated and I really liked her, but just like with Saloman it takes time.

The story between hunters and vampires is involved and probably more emotionally complicated than the characters themselves, especially because of Luk. I liked how that aspect of the story played out and the action/suspense was well written. Overall, I'd rate this book a solid 4 out of 5, and I would definitely read this author again.

3 1/2 stars

The final instalment of the Awakened by Blood trilogy keep the suspense until the end: will they be a new Romeo and Juliet? Will humanity fall under the vampires' control?

The plot evolves around vamps politics and, as in the second book, around Elisabeth, who's torn between Salomon and the hunters.

I felt that Luk was never really a villain worth of the page he was written on. Too unsubstantial to be up to par to Salomon or the hunters.

I felt also there were a few weak links in the story:
--why the British soldier turned self-made hunter? He had no reason to hate vamps (he has seen the good and the bad).
-- How is it possible Elisabeth develops the power?
--.

The end above all was a bit of a let down. I like some romance in the UF and I like PNR (or I wouldn't be reading it). But it annoys me (to hell and back) when a woman's worth is linked to her womb.

Moreover I think that some rules should be left alone. Either create your own mythology or if you stick to the existent, stick to it.

Salomon’s cousin has been awaken and now the hunters will need to except his help if they want to have any hope of winning the war Luk has waged against them. As much as it pains him Salomon will put his cousin back to rest. Knowing he should have killed the greedy senator when he had a chance, now he has awakened Luk and is after his beautiful Elizabeth. He knows he would be lost without her, she is everything to him.
Elizabeth straddles the two worlds. On one hand she wants to do good in the world and help the hunters. But her love for Salomon has shown her that the evil creatures vampires are suppose to be is maybe not so black and white as the hunters believe them to be. Elizabeth is slightly obsessed with salmon she loves him beyond reason and it sometimes drives a wedge between her and her hunter friends.
I very much enjoy this series there is just some parts that drag a bit at times. I love Salomon even though he is a bit crass at times and a little old fashion. There is just something old school powerful and sexy about him, I can’t help but fall in love with him. Elizabeth is a bit whinny at times but Salomon makes it all worth it. The story line is strong and the characters are very entertaining. At the end of this book there was a big surprise and I was very excited about it now I can’t wait till the next book.

Blood Eternal is the third book in Marie Treanor's Awakened by Blood series. In this book, Saloman's cousin Luk has been awakened. Saloman is the one who killed him so needless to say, Luk is out for revenge. Elizabeth still struggles between her love for Saloman and her duty as a vampire hunter.

First I have to say how bothered I am about the appearance of the book. It's a different size from the rest, and the cover doesn't look like it belongs in the same series at all. I do understand that the author probably had no say in this issue though.

I thought this book seemed rather slow, which is the main reason for me giving it 3 stars instead of 4. I was a little bored with the plot, and I just don't really have much interest in the secondary characters. I love Elizabeth and Saloman though, and I love reading the parts where they are together. Saloman comes to realize just how much Elizabeth means to him, and it was sweet to see this softer side of him. If you liked Saloman in the other books, you will love him in this one.

I don't think this would be a good stand-alone book. I think the two previous books would need to be read in order to fully enjoy this one. I'm not positive, but it appears that this is the last book in the series. That saddens me because the ending of Blood Eternal is great and there is so much potential for more.

Even after everything that has happened Elizabeth is still a bit torn between duty and love. Her and Soloman are made for each other and that has been apparent since book one. Elizabeth has always held herself a bit back and talked her self out of taking the needed steps to make the relationship work. BLOOD ETERNAL turns all that around and brings them together much more closely then they have beem. There is some fantastic action and suspense in BLOOD ETERNAL. Friends need to make final choices as to who they will support and stand behind. Elizabeth comes into her talents more then she has in past books. The romance between Soloman and Elizabeth continues to be steamy. I really felt that Elizabeth did a great job with staying true to herself and her beliefs while working with everyone's best intentions in mind. BLOOD ETERNAL ends on an exciting note and I really want to know what happens next but it looks like the series is over :( I definitely think there is a lot of story left and hope it continues some time.

Oh Marie...I love how the prior two books built and built a marvelous story line that EXPLODES into an action packed, romance. With gathering evil forces joining to replace all the good that Saloman has built up over the year of his awakening with chaos and war. The Vampire Hunters NEED to open to having advice and help from Saloman and his allies. But will long held prejudices keep them from rescue and cause the death of the one woman he could love for eternity? And how long does Elizabeth truly have, with mysterious ailments popping up at odd times and the Dr.'s seeing no cause for alarm? Everything comes to a battle to end all...or could it be a new beginning for Vampire and Humans alike? Join me in enjoying this culmination of a wonderful talent: a writer who kept me hanging till the last page, Thank you Marie for this wonderful trilogy!

I thought about giving this book a four but I'm still coming away from this series having loved it so I decided that wasn't fair. It seems like the author dropped the ball on the delicious tension between Elizabeth and Solomon that was so juicy in the first two books. In this book the both seemed like awkward teenagers. I liked where the characters seemed to be heading and I wouldn't have been disappointed with more books.

I think it's very stuped for Senator Dante to "wake" Luk, Saloman's cousin. I don't understand why he is got the fix idea that vampires "will kill each other" from the desire to turn the Senator; in other words why does he think Luk'll turn him when Saloman and pretty much everyone didn't...
