Haunted by his memories of the past and the murders of his wife and daughter, Noah Ericson struggles to rebuild a new life for himself in Nowhere, Nevada, where he encounters the lovely Mercy Atkins, the owner of a dilapidated hotel, whose husband has mysteriously vanished. Original.
This book started out ok, I liked the general idea of the plot, I liked the secondary characters of the young son and the dementia-like father....
But the bad guys were too much into physical abuse of kids and wives and I did not enjoy reading about it so often in the book.
I stopped reading when I got to the part of the sister-in-law verbally abusing a 3-year old to clean the house and do the dishes, etc. It was pathetic to me and I didn't want to read/imagine it anymore... so I skipped to the end to see how it wrapped up and that was enough.
