Peter Allen David, often abbreviated PAD, was an American writer of comic books, novels, television, films, and video games. His notable comic book work includes an award-winning 12-year run on The Incredible Hulk, as well as runs on Aquaman, Young Justice, SpyBoy, Supergirl, Fallen Angel, Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2099, Captain Marvel, and X-Factor.
His Star Trek work included comic books and novels such as the New Frontier book series. His other novels included film adaptations, media tie-ins, and original works, such as the Apropos of Nothing and Knight Life series. His television work includes series such as Babylon 5, Young Justice, Ben 10: Alien Force and Nickelodeon's Space Cases, which he co-created with Bill Mumy.
David often jokingly described his occupation as "Writer of Stuff", and he was noted for his prolific writing, characterized by its mingling of real-world issues with humor and references to popular culture, as well as elements of metafiction and self-reference.

Ever get the Tron blues, where you can't tell Flynn from Tron and anybody else who wears blue? Still some of that here, but I have never been closer to grokking the Tron spirit. Five star artist Miaco Pierfederici does justice to an already incredible movie. Black backgrounds and bold colors provided me with a unique experience. The editorial choice of interposing flashbacks keeps this out of five star range. They wanted to keep the action moving, but this muddles the narrative so you have to read it twice to appreciate it. Marvel-Disney adds value and excitement to prop up the production: mission accomplished.

Huge fan of both Trons and this adaptation follows the first movie almost perfectly.

Full disclosure: I'm reviewing this book as a fan of TRON: Legacy and not having actually seen the original TRON film.
4 stars is a little high, but its TRON! The book was a really fun read!
As a graphic novel, this book wasn't anything special. The format/layout was very basic. The art was cool enough but it was difficult to tell the characters apart from each other, especially once Flynn entered the Grid. Actually, sometimes it was impossible to tell Flynn and TRON apart which was the main point of frustration with this book.
As a story? I mean, it felt like a movie adaption. Bouncing from point to point without any of the in-between scenes which would fill out the story. Information and characters were introduced without being fully explained, but since I already know the TRON universe it was easy enough to figure out what was going on.
In relationship to TRON: Legacy, it was really cool to read this book and see all the ways Legacy referenced and built off of the original film. Also good to get Tron's backstory before he's turned into the faceless menace that he is in Legacy. This story also played on religion in an interesting way, which was a point that didn't make it into Legacy. But like thank the User (or whatever) that Legacy sorted out the blues and oranges cause that was confusing as hell in this book-- like blue programs with orange bikes? What.
TRON is such a fun universe and I wish it wasn't so wildly underrated. There are incredible artists working in the comic industry now and I can't help but imagine how awesome a contemporary series of TRON comics would look.

A rudimentary adaptation of the original TRON film, scripted by the prominent Sci-Fi writer Peter David [Star Trek, Babylon 5, Hulk etc.]. This volume collects both stories 1 & 2.
Was hoping for a bit better, as this graphic novel reads fairly bland. I liked it more so for Mirco Pierfederici's very slick, digi-like artwork.
I think this is a case where an adaptation cannot possibly capture the thrilling visuals of a film, as TRON is a stellar, inventive creation of digital filmmaking.
Very much looking forward to the new, 'TRON 3 ~Ares', film releasing Oct, 2025.

I liked the art style a lot in general, but it's hard to tell people apart, especially in the second story where they're all wearing basically the same clothes/colors. Other than that, both stories could've just stood to be longer, with more space to bring out the content. As it is, they both seem like summaries rather than stories.

the art for this wavers between detailed and abstract, sometimes on the same page. it's basically a retelling of the movie - "really?!?" I hear you say - but it was to get ready to read the 'sequel' story.

A good adaptation of a classic but slow and revolutionary at the time but now visually outdated movie. The narration over the story, posing the questions of gods, machines and destiny really added some depth to scenes from the film, and the visuals seemed to 'punch' at the right time, showing off characters like Tron especially. Overall, the plot moves quick and is over before you know it, but for fans or future viewers of the 2010 film TRON: Legacy, this book provides a condensed update and intro into the world of the original.
