Offers inspiring and thought-provoking affirmations and readings for each day of the year, written especially for Overeaters Anonymous members and anyone seeking recovery from compulsive eating.
I do read this everyday for my recovery. I need meditations for my food addiction and this is one of them. I do find it helpful, but the wording is more old fashioned than I like. However, it is better to have something to think about and argue with as I contemplate my recovery each day than to not have any meditations. I prefer Voices from Overeater's Anonymous more, but my favorite 12 step literature has to be NA, followed closely by Codependents Anonymous as they are more open as to concepts of a Higher Power, and less likely to invoke the Judeo-Christian god concept in the language, which suits me better. Also a handful of the readings are near incomprehensible or jumbled like they pushed it out to publication without a good editing process.
I read 5 morning readings, and this one is my favorite (can understand why, just love it). Wish the kindle version had the index (as the printed version does).
Such an inspiring and motivational read. Although it is perhaps aimed more directly so, to people in a 12 step or addiction program, I feel that these passages and quotations can be of immense joy and enlightenment to anyone, regardless of what they are experiencing.
I love this book! It gives daily readings to encourage me from eating compulsively. It reminds me why I choose to attend OA and refrain from binging on food. Recovery from compulsive food behaviors is possible!!
Both of the daily readers are very helpful and staying focused on the solution. Although literature is only one of the nine tools, it is a wonderful way to remind me of what to do and how to do it.
I have read this book through many times. Not reading it daily this year. Highly recommend it! Dates below are not correct. I read daily throughout 2019.
