Michelle Moran is the internationally bestselling author of eight historical novels. A native of southern California, she attended Pomona College, then earned a Masters Degree from the Claremont Graduate University. During her six years as a public high school teacher, she used her summers to travel around the world, and it was her experiences as a volunteer on archaeological digs that inspired her to write historical fiction. Her novels, translated into more than twenty languages, include Nefertiti, The Heretic Queen, Cleopatra’s Daughter, Madame Tussaud, The Second Empress, Rebel Queen, Mata Hari, and Maria. A frequent traveler, she currently lives with her family in England, where she is researching her ninth book.
I love EVERYTHING that I’ve ready by Michelle Moran.
Books 1 and 2 are set in ancient Egypt and follow Nefertiti and then her niece through their fascinating stories of heresy, treason, betrayal, and rebirth.
Then Book 3 jumps in a few thousand years later and sweeps us off to ancient Rome with Cleopatra’s daughter and her story of betrayal, survival, and love. You could read each of these books as a standalone book and not be lost but to really soak up the story and history, I definitely recommend starting with Book 1.
The author Michelle Moran has to be one of my top go to read authors, her style of writing is captivating, almost as if each word on paper flows like the harmonious rhythm of the most beautiful classical music you would hear. She has managed to be able to write in a style that draws you into her pages to make you feel as if you are walking, seeing and living in the story in the moment. Truly a fantastic author.
I've read these books multiple times, and also purchased the audio versions - they are my go-to around the house or while traveling. I want the movies to come out!! Although, movies are never as good as the books, so maybe not. :)
Anyway, Michelle Moran is my favorite author and she doesn't disappoint in these novels. History springs to life from her pen in a dazzling, captivating display. What I appreciate most about her novels is how easily I can relate to her characters. They were women just like me, with the same desires, fears, loves, and sensitivities. Combine that with historical facts crafted into a mesmerizing tale, and I can't resist. You won't be able to put this down!
Amazing series. I have read each of them multiple times and they have now become staple books in my library in both electronic and hard copy.
Assumptions are made, certain literary liberties taken to connect the dots and fill in blanks in a time periods where so much is unknown and conclusions need to be made. Michelle Moran beautifully transports the reader back in time and keeps the characters and plots and relate-able, relevant and understandable to a more recent time period.
