I read this book because my great-uncle had it on his bookshelf and we went to the same college (Kenyon, where Ransom helped found The Kenyon Review). My lit crit glasses were a bit dated, but this boos was strangely both enjoyable and a bit infuriating. He starts out saying he's going to respond to certain essays and then completely derails himself in what almost feels like self-important lectures on random unrelated topics.
