Satoshi Kitamura was born in 1956. After dropping out of school to pursue art, Kitamura decided not to attempt a 10-year apprenticeship as a potter and instead worked as a graphic artist. He was not trained as an artist, but at the age of 19 began to do commercial work as an illustrator for adverts and magazines. He moved from Tokyo to London in 1979 where he worked mainly at designing greeting cards. Satoshi Kitamura has won several awards, including the Mother Goose Award, the National Art Library Award from the Victoria and Albert Museum, and a Nestle Children’s Book Prize Silver Medal. He lives in Japan.
A great book that provides a deep look into human society. The duck represents people, the mud represents human sin, and the water the duck goes in to get the mud off represents hope. I recommend this book to any aspiring philosophers.
Another really cute book by Satoshi Kitamura. Love the illustrations. We purchased these board books for our oldest daughter when she was born. We've read them over and over again.
Rose: We all liked this book as well as Cat is Sleepy, Dog is Thirsty, and Squirrel is Hungry, by the same author. Also got great reviews from the 1 year old we gave the set to recently. Board book = holds up well to toddler page turning.
Adorable book. I first saw this book in with my nephew's collection and had to buy one for my own to read to our kids. It was out of print and I had to search for it but I got it! It is so very cute and fun to read.
