I normally only discuss 'read for fun' books on Good Reads and as a book for my thesis, 'Beyond Green' definitely doesn't fall into that category. Nevertheless I actually really enjoyed it and so I thought I'd share my thoughts.
A collection of highly stylised short essays (complete with many high design pictures) I must admit at first I very much judged this book by its cover, however, my initial perceptions were very wrong.
Unlike other books on eco-fashion, 'Beyond Green' really gets to the crux of the issue: is fashion inherently unsustainable, is buying eco-fashion hypocrisy , does its encouragement of abundance try to compensate for scarcity of what is truly important.
'Beyond Green' might look like greenwash but it really is a comprehensive and insightful look into issues of sustainability in fashion.
