KLT23 has been genetically engineered to be the perfect man and perfect soldier. He is a secret government agency’s ultimate success story with his strength, stamina, and intelligence. KLT23 has been exceeding expectations from the very beginning…until he developed an illness his doctors can’t identify, let alone cure. If they don’t do something soon, KLT23 will die.
Sergeant Horatio Muir only knows about KLT23 what he’s seen from his observation area and the few words they’ve exchanged when he brings the super soldier his meals. But that hasn’t stopped Muir from developing a soft spot for the innocent man he watches every day. That KLT23’s illness might kill him plagues Muir…until one of the doctors comes up with the theory that KLT23 needs to get laid to release the chemicals necessary to rebalance his system.
Missy Welsh stares into space a lot, has conversations with cats, takes notes while people-watching, records conversations (not the ones with cats), named her laptop Norbert and her phone Pushkin, has backups of her backups’ backups, faints at the sight of a misused semi-colon, and will often ask socially unacceptable questions of strangers. Basically, she’s a writer.
I really enjoyed this short hot story. It is rare that I feel like a short story has enough plot that I feel good about the sex (I am not a huge fan of PWP) but I enjoyed being in Muir's head and it felt like there was a real connection. Kelty was awesome too. I won't say why cause it would be a spoiler but he rocks. =)
**** 4.5 **** I was a little apprehensive with the first person, but being one of Missy's stories and being m/m I couldn't hold back on reading it. It's based in the future from what I gathered and I liked it. Not a miss for Missy, but another hit with this author in my books.
3.5 stars I needed a short read in between all those murder mysteries I stuffed my brain with; and this one turned out to be perfect. For only 22 pages, it infuses cuteness and sensuality, when Sergeant Horatio Muir "helps" a genetically super-soldier KLT23 (whom he endearingly called "Kelty") to cure the illness by having sex. As Kelty learns the gay sex, I have a big smile on my face, OMG he's so cute.
I will admit I put off reading this book because of the title and generic cover. The cover is used at MLR too much and the title KLT23 just didn’t appeal to me. I am saying that so that if you haven’t read it for the same reasons you’re missing out.
It was a cute short story that is probably half a sex scene but it was really intimate and enjoyable so I would recommend this
Usually I am not a big fan of short stories, as I tend to like longer narratives, but this story by Missy Welsh is perfectly constructed. I felt like I had a good grasp of the character's emotions and motivations (in only a few thousand words!) plus it was just so much fun to read. Highly recommended!
Oh my! What fabulous fun! Devious Kelty getting what he wants, and Muir pretty darned happy about it. This little gem was the perfect way to end a hectic Monday on a high note. I'd really love to see some more of these two. Hint hint! Write, Ms. Welsh! Write!
When you're in the mood for a short, smokin hot read? OMG, this is it! Loved the sly devious Kelty pulling one over on his handlers and Muir. EXCELLENT. :D
Curiosity killed a cat. I’m still numbering the rest of my lives. Seen this one circling around and had to know. Actually a sweet and quick read (and spicy as well let’s not get confused). Might give this author another read, they seem interesting.
I realized that I haven't rated this story, so I had to read it again and it's still awesome. Sexy, funny and well-rounded short. Muir's voice is great and he and Kelty are fantastic together. My favorite quote: Jesus, God, and beautiful twinks everywhere!. XD
I want a sequel, but, so far, no such luck. Please, please, please?
Wonderful short story. Concise, imaginative, and funny. It's been a long time since I enjoyed a tale so much... or laughed so hard. This one really tickled my funny bone. For a quick, fun read, pick this one up!
This is a really great short story. I loved that Kelty was so excited by being given a name from the man he had a crush on. And how excited Horatio was with just about everything! Horatio's last name was Muir, any relation to Griffin of Damon Suede's Hot Head?
I loved the premiss of this story and it has a cute twist in the end, but aside from that, there wasn't much else...okay, there was some sex, but that's all. I give KLT23 three stars.
