The third and final Riley Kovachs book finds Riley trying to foil a plot to lobotomize Francis Farmer. DeMarco blends real life people and events like the HUAC trials, the Hollywood Ten and Dalton Trumbo into his pulpy detective stew. The gumshoe patois can get a little thick at times but overall makes for another politically left leaning addition to the crime genre.
