As someone who is writing a doctoral dissertation on the Method, I can say that this is somehow even more masturbatory than Strasberg’s own books. The book could have been half the length if Hull had stopped name-dropping every other line. Although an effective and thorough review of Strasberg’s tenets and exercises, the entire book focuses far too heavily on convincing the reader that both Strasberg and Hull knew and taught so many famous people. And the added pictures are not educational but simply more showing off of their proximity to “stars.”
All told, if you can bear to slog through the self-congratulation, it’s a thorough book on The Method.
