We learn a bit about the history of the Arm of Kannon. When Kakujo was younger he learned that the arm was being maintained by living on soul-less bodies which need to be changed every few months.
I still like Ryo, the hero who has severed the arm from an infected body in the past, who needs to remove it from Mao. However, the story better start improving or I'll be really bored.
The arm cannot be destroyed because it would...unbalance the universe. Hmm.

same as books 1 and 2. If this doesn't stop soon, I'll probably not keep reading.
